Located at Yishun, within short walking distance from MRT, there was a typical Kway Chap and Duck rice stall. I was having my dinner, looking for simple convenient dishes and I decided to try it out. Pretty clean and neat from appearance, staff was friendly indeed with a polite greeting. As usual, I ordered and waited the food to be served at seating area.Delicious Teochew legend of flat rice sheets in a soup made with dark soy sauce, the soup was just nice to handle the overall. It was served along with pork parts which included small intestines, stomach, as well as braised beancurd, preserved salted vegetables, and braised hard-boiled eggs. Texture was tender while the juicy ingredients were not too salty but tasty. Normal set as above costed $3.80, portion was rather enough. I will make my visit again for the rice. continue reading

You Ji is one of the best duck rice chains around, and is my favourite duck rice stall. Duck meat was very flavourful and portion given was rather generous. The duck rice comes with braised peanuts which I love, and also braised tofu which was soft and well braised. The best thing about this duck rice is its chilli - special chilli unique to you ji which goes extremely well with the rice. continue reading

I rarely patronize this stall and the last time I patronized them is to take away for my sis. Today, I decided to give it a try and it was a pleasant surprise! Why didn't I try their duck rice and kway chap sooner?Duck rice is very fragrance, duck is boneless and it comes with peanut and tou fu! I especially like the chili as they added ikan bilis to add flavour to it.I like the kway chap soup, the herbal element is not that strong and it isn't too bland. In fact, there's this cooling element when you drink the soup which is kind of refreshing! As for the kway chap ingredients, it is nice - I like the sauce and the intestine is nicely done but for 1 serving, the ingredients is not too generous. continue reading
