Always wanted to drop by Senrangoon garden hawker centre for a meal and since kids do not have enrichment class today so we are here.Hubby ordered a plate of duck rice with "dou gan" at S$3.50.Portion is very big with duck braised tastily and tender."Dou Gan" is nice too and the peppery pork organ soup is a bonusI am a teochew and I felt that their duck is of my liking...More salty type, hokkien duck a bit sweet. Lol...Good price and good quality, must try. continue reading

The FoodI ordered a plate of Duck Rice with Lor Bak. The duck meat was still as good and very fragrant. The stewed dark sauce tastes just like home cooked sauce and goes very well with the duck and lor bak. The Lor Bak is cooked till it's nice and soft and even the layer of fat is also fragrant. The chilli sauce goes well with the duck and lor bak as it has a sourish taste hence making it very appetising. The PriceReasonably priced at $5 with generous portionOverallThe is one of the better Braised Duck Rice I have ever tasted and will definitely come back again to eat ! continue reading

I used to come over to take away a whole braised duck to share with my dearest Grandpa but i have since stopped for a bit.I was here once more at 11.30 am on a weekday to take away half of a braised duck to have it for dinner at home. I was the only customer then though there were a few tables near the stall spotted to be having their braised duck rice for lunch. There is no increase in price since my last visit about 2 years ago. Half of the braised duck is still reasonably priced at $16.00. The duck head is included too if taking away the whole duck. Though they are famous for the braised duck but spare parts like pig's tongue, pig's ear, pig's skin, braised pork belly together with braised egg, tau kwa and tau pok are available too. Their braised pork belly used to my Grandpa's favorite. They de-boned and chopped up the duck meat nicely. A separate packet of braised sauce and chilli were given along to take away. The ducks have been nicely braised to give it the desirable tenderness with just the right chewiness and likable softness which is well-suited for elderly. It was braised in a typical teochew style to give the duck a well-balanced saltiness and flavor. I do not usually pour the braised sauce in when i have it at home. The braised duck tasted good on its own and so with or without the braised sauce did not make much a difference. And so, i would rather use the braised sauce as a dip sauce together with the chilli sauce. The chilli has got a minimum level of spiciness to complement the taste of braised duck perfectly. The best way to enjoy this braised duck is to go with a bowl of white porridge. The saltiness of the braised sauce is good to go with it in a simple way. The porridge is not served by the stall though.I remember i used to queue for a long while when i came on Saturday. It might be advisable to come by during the weekdays to avoid the long queue. continue reading

This is one of the most famous braised duck rice stall in Singapore. They do have customers travelled from different part of Singapore to have their fix of braised duck rice here. As expected, the queue is forever long. The tip is to come early. I usually come early like 5 to 10 minutes before they opened. I always get half of the braised duck for about $18 with their braised pork, tau pok and braised egg. The braised duck is nicely braised to the right texture at the right level of saltiness. The braised pork belly is another must order. It has got an amazing softness and it did not taste as oily as expected. It is best eaten with their special chilli and their braised sauce. continue reading

I am usually ok with food, hence I left the choice on what to order to my friend. He got for us the braised duck rice, which he spent 20minutes queuing for. Although I am not the one queuing, but this is really good. The duck is very tender and the sauce complements the duck very well. The fatty skin is also not too fatty and I enjoy eating it together with the duck meat. continue reading
