Leong Yeow Famous Waterloo St Hainanese Chicken Rice 亮耀馳名四馬路海南鶏飯 is a famous chicken rice stall tucked away at a corner of Waterloo centre in a coffee shop. The nearest MRT station is Bras Basah (Circle Line). During meal times, this stall nearly always garner the longest queue in the coffee shop. Steamed and Roasted Chicken Rice $5.70As I could not decided whether to order steamed or roasted chicken, I decided to order both. Hence, my chicken rice cost $5.70.The chicken rice was fragrant and not too oily. However, some parts of the rice were a little too dry.Steam and Roasted ChickenOnce the chicken meat are cut onto the plate, they are drizzled with soy sauce and I suspect sesame oil was added too. Steam and Roasted ChickenThe Steamed Chicken with its succulent meat was decently executed. As for the Roasted Chicken, I thought it was even better executed. The exterior of the Roasted Chicken was yummilicious. Slightly crisp yet chewy skin, it was immense with aromatic blend of seasoning and flavour. Very addictive. The fragrant and flavour penetrated into the meat. If certain part of the meat was less tough, this would have been perfect! As with every chicken rice, the chilli sauce is a must! The chilli sauce at Leong Yeow was addictive. Very tangy and spicy. It complemented well with the chicken meat. Not for the fainted hearted, especially if you are one who can't take spicy food.

This place is hidden in Waterloo Centre, there are only a few businesses operating here. I was here to repair my iPhone. Not much to see unless you have business to settle here. The Leong Yeow Famous Waterloo St Chicken Rice has a rather warm and cosy environment, and can get quite crowded from all walks of life from the Laselle Arts School students, secondary school students, office goers and families. It is good that the staff was prompt on delivery upon payment, but each transaction could be settled more quickly to ensure greater efficiency. I hate queuing! :/ This is my first time trying this place out, as I've heard much hype about it. We ordered the Pork and Chicken Rice. The chicken was very tender, soaked in the chilli to get that one perfect bite accompanied by the fragrance of the chicken rice. The pork was really good too, chewy but easy to bite. This can be easily one of my favourite chicken rice places in Singapore.

When everyone is talking about Tian Tian Chicken Rice, there is a really good chicken rice tucked away in a coffee shop along Waterloo Street. I started eating their chicken rice more than a decade ago and they are still my favourite chicken rice through the years. I have eaten from different stalls including those famous ones but this is still the best to me.How is a good hainanese chicken rice to be judged? The chicken is expected to be succulent and juicy. The rice is expected to be aromatic with fragrance, it has to be grainy and not overly greasy. The chilli is expected to have a certain level of spiciness with a well-balanced garlic and lime taste. This is one of the stalls that met the above mentioned factors with a consistent standard. My usual preference is the roasted chicken. I have only tasted the roasted chicken so i could not say much about their white chicken. Their roasted chicken is probably the best that i have eaten so far. The chicken used is a plump and meaty one. The well seasoned chicken is always fried well to give its skin a slight crisp and awesome flavor. The texture of meat is desirably succulent, juicy and flavorsome. Their rice is one of the best if it is not the best. The texture is grainy with nice chicken broth flavor and not overly oily. It still tasted really good even if is left for hours. Their chilli is the better one that i ever tasted too. It has got a good level of spiciness that derived from the chilli padi and further enhanced by the right amount of garlic and lime added. To me, the chilli is definitely the most important factor to determine the worthiness of a particular hainanese chicken rice. This stall is manned by the elderly auntie and her sons. The auntie is mostly the one chopping up the chickens. The chicken is drizzled with their special soya sauce before served. The soya sauce enhanced the taste of chicken further with just the right level of saltiness. The taste is not overpowering even when the chicken is left to have it later. Their service is always prompt and systematic even during the peak period. The chicken rice has been reported and recommended by the Media, too. There is always a queue even during the off-peak hours. It has always been a joy to enjoy their chicken rice, again and again.

I think this is the best Chicken Rice in town area. This is a good place to have cheap and good chicken rice. The roasted chicken is my first choice. The meat is tender and not too tough. The roasted skin has got nice fragrant. The chicken rice got taste of chicken broth. The best is their super hot chilli sauce with a bit of ginger taste. This is a must try for all chicken rice lovers.

This stall only opens at 1130am and there's already a queue waiting for it to open. I must say the popularity of this stall is really great. The quality wise, I don't find it extremely good, but definitely worth the price! However, it's good to note that their chicken rice (the rice itself) is really fragrant and tasty. I usually order the white chicken drumstick. More food reviews at http://chiamhuiy.blogspot.sg
