I have been craving for Famous Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa but have not got the chance to visit them in Jalan Berseh. Thanks to my colleague who brought me down to Jurong East and enjoy similar bowl of Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa without travelling too far.Unlike the original stall in Jalan Berseh, this stall offers other food items like Mee Siam & Mee Rebus. Not only that, healthy choice option is adopted here with whole grain noodles used.Laksa comes in 2 sizes, $3 and $3.50. The $3 portion is already quite good enough for a meal as ingredients like fishcakes & fresh cockles together with the noodles were rather filling. However if I were to compare them to the one I used to have, I will comment that Laksa gravy spelled the differences. Their gravy was diluted and lack of the usual fragrance even though the taste was rather distinct. For additional spicy kick, do remember to add in their sambal chilli.Taste in overall was close and it was really good that at such a price without travelling too far, I still can enjoy a stomach warming bowl of Trishaw Laksa like this in Jurong. continue reading

I've always wanted to try this laksa but I usually end up too full to try any more food from other stalls. Finally, I tried the famous sungei laksa although I am not sure if this belongs to the authentic sungei laksa. It costed $2.50 which was considered cheap and the portion was quite big so it was very value for money. the laksa stock was quite rich with a distinctive traditional flavour. At only $2.50, this is worth the try and is one of the better laksas i have tasted. continue reading

located at the stretch of stalls facing the HDB, this stall is easily located. I was drawn to the stall by the blue "好吃" logo pasted at the stall. There are 2 sizes available $2.50 and $3.00. The cheaper one comes with no egg and of cos lesser ingredients. Thus in my opinion, the $3.00 is more value for money. Do note that the portion here is relatively big and you can add cockles for additional $0.50.Personally I find the gravy not too thick and not too strong of the coconut milk taste. Overall the laksa here is ok but not fantastic. However for the serving and the ingredients given, it is definitely value for money. continue reading

Normally I try to avoid eating laksa during lunch because I did not want to stain my clothes but since this stall is quite famous, I decided to try it. I ordered the $3 portion and it comes with a generous serving of fishcakes and hum. The primary ingredient seems to be the hum, so if you do not eat hum, I would advise you to buy other food instead. The hum is quite fresh and so is the fishcake. The fishcake is quite bouncy and delicious. The laksa gravy is quite thick with strong coconut fragrance. I added more chili to the laksa to increase the spiciness as I found it to be tastier that way. Overall, I thought that it is quite a good bowl of laksa though I think I would prefer a laksa with more ingredients. continue reading

I have heard so much about the Sungei Road Trishaw Laksa and it has always got me to wonder what exactly is so special with their laksa. I tried it for the first time right at this food centre. The coconut milk infused gravy has got a distinctively thick and rich taste. The level of spiciness is not as spicy as i would like it to be. It served with a handful of cockles and fishcake with the nicely cooked thick bee hoon. It tasted quite good and i enjoyed it. continue reading
