We had a craving for japanese food today & settled for yakiyakibo teppanyaki. We ordered a Tamago Salmon Set & also a prawn & chicken set. The set meal comes with a bowl of rice, a bowl of miso soup, a plate of fry vegetables, cold tofu with pork floss in light soya sauce & 2 pieces of oranges. We both thought that the cold tofu was light & refreshing. The tofu is firm & tasteless, but when paired with the slightly salty soya sauce & sweet pork floss it becomes a brillant appetizer. We were seated right in front of the chef so we could sit back & witnessed the process of how our food were being cooked. What we like about the tamago salmon is that the tamago was cooked in perfection, very soft in texture & coated the salmon slightly. The salmon on the other hand is sweet (due to the sauce) & does not break into pieces when you picked them up with chopsticks. The chicken dices were flavourful & goes really well with rice. Prawns were fresh & sweet too. We both loved their potato salad. Chunks of potatoes with japanese cucumber were very addictive & appetizing! There are just too many set meals to choose from. We will definitely come back to try out more dishes! Nice ambience, great food & friendly staffs.   continue reading

I was at Nex mall during lunch time and chanced upon a photo display at Yaki Yaki Bo. I find the set lunches quite enticing so I decided to settle my lunch there. I ordered a Prawn and chicken set $19.90++ that consist of grill prawn, teriyaki chicken, potato salad, chilled tofu, miso soup, rice & fruit.Grilled prawn & chicken w/ potato saladThe prawn and chicken was nicely grilled and very fresh. I really liked the potato salad which is very nicely done with creamy mayo and crunchy cucumber to add texture to the mushy potato...yums.The sauteed cabbage is nice and crunchy as well. The tofu was refreshingly paired with a light tasting soy sauce...nice.A nice and satisfying meal indeed! continue reading

Teppanyaki Wagyu Beef SetThis was on promotional price of $13.90++ ( usual price: $17.90++), consisting of a salad, egg tofu, beef, miso soup, rice and fruit. I would have picked the sirloin beef cubes teppan if not for the promotion. Well, next time then.. =pEgg Tofu This was nice and smooth, although a bit blend for some people. For me, I think it was still alright, and I liked the golden brown "skin"...Wagyu Beef TeppanyakiFinally, the main course! Beside the beef slices, there was also a lot of bean sprouts and bread. I suppose the bread was there to absorb the excessive oil, but again you can eat it lah. KekeThe beef slices was good with the sweet teppanyaki sauce. Bean sprouts was crispy. Both were great to go along with rice.***Teppanyaki Chicken/Seafood SetI have forgotten the price for this, but should be around $20+/-. Again, there was salad, egg tofu, chawanmushi, miso soup, rice and fruit beside seafood & chicken. SalmonPrawn, Scallop and Chicken TeppanThis set was great! There was seafood, meat and vegetable ( bean sprouts mah..).. a "well-balanced meal" indeed! KekeThe salmon was ok. The prawns and scallop was bigggggggggg... I was expecting something smaller. On the other hand, there was only 2 of each, so kind of not enough since we were sharing food. But then, to be fair, the set was meant for 1 pax so the serving was reasonable bah.The chicken was really tender, and not greasy or tough. Each piece was neatly cubed in a mouth size and you can pop the chicken cube in the mouth easilyChawanmushiThe chawanmushi was quite similiar to those served at Sakae Sushi Teppan. It was nicely grilled in an "onion bowl", so that the egg will have the nice fragrance of onion. It was perfect for me, since I dun eat onion but I like its fragrance.Overall, it was a satisfying meal with lotza "surprises" ( referring to the portion, quality etc) here and there. Therefore, if you are looking for middle ranged teppanyaki place, this should make a nice choice. Thought of having Teppanyaki for lunch so decide to try this... Such a disappointment.Only service is good.Order one seafood set, prawn & chicken set.Salad- The cutting is too big n it is too rawSeafood set- Prawn are not well cook when serve so had to send back to recook. Prawn & Chicken- Prawn was not well cook.Garlic Rice- Pay to top up from plain rice ... No taste of garlic. Should have eat the plain rice. Conclusion: I will not return again as the chef cannot even cook a simple prawn well and it is too oily. The food cook is normal even my old folk complain about the food. continue reading
