Service - quite friendly, cowboy attire, polite, attempts at efficiency.Ambience - next to the bust-stop which is rather dirty as buses belch smog dust and black soot all over the place as they sotp and goValue - rather low cost for steak burgers which are quite substantial. Not the best meat so the price is cheaper, but it fills you up. Especially the Republic Burger with lots of frills and trimmings. Not for the faint-hearted. Price and quality of other foods are comparable to Astons' (for their other stuff like Chicken, etc...) Astons' is better for the other stuff. Maybe Republic of steak is good for the Republic Burger... and the chips. The chips are pretty good here!Food - Mediocre, not outstanding, but substantial. Lots of veges but they are microwaved soggy and tasteless - not fresh. Beef patty is quite substantial but not really fresh or superb quality. The fried stuff and frills in the Repiblic Burger is overkill - but I guess some people like their burgers stuffed full of overkill?Not excellent food, but convenient and substanstial and better than Macca's.

Armed with a promise from the head honcho of Republic of Steak that he would personally grill my steak for me on my next visit, I shrug off the threat of what seemed like an impending thunderstorm to arrive at the eatery just in time for dinner.Mushroom Soup - The eatery has introduced an "add on" concept which is essentially topping up a couple of dollars ($6.90 in this case) to get a full set, comprising a soup, a drink and a dessert. The mushroom soup tasted straight out of the can, save for bits of grounded mushrooms that added to the texture and taste. A little more stirring would have been appreciated though as I could make out hardened clumps of the soup.Cowboy Sirloin - The very reason why I was here and yes, the boss did make good on his promise to personally do up my steak for me (he did seem a little exhausted after that though). The steak was done to medium rare in most areas but certain spots were undercooked. That aside, the meat was tender and flavourful with a wonderfully subtle grilled aftertaste. My option of red wine sauce had a nice tinge of red wine, which is a change from the watered down ones I usually get. And if you are feeling guilty over the meat, go for the vegetable sides.Pork Chop - The grill lines were apparent on the pork chop as well and it showed in the flavour. Smokey grilled taste coupled with decently tender meat, it was actually very decent for the price. The accompanying mushroom sauce was a washout though, coming across as watered down. You might take heed to go for the black pepper sauce instead, as recommended by the eatery.Lava Cake with Ice Cream - Besides being aesthetically disastrous with the cake looking like it would crumble at any minute and a softer than expected crust (I believe they didn't bake it long enough), the lava cake was surprisingly, decent. Thick chocolate oozed out from the huge dent in the crust, whose texture was a cross between cake and kueh. And they might want to consider putting their ice cream in a less cold environment, considering that I had a hard time initially trying to eat my ice cream because it was simply too hard.I personally thought that the dinner was rather value for money, considering the location and the quality of food. Service did seem a little lacking though as the wait for the food was quite long and I noticed a number of customers attempting to catch the wait staffs' attention for prolonged periods of time. Republic of steak is probably the place that sell the cheapest steak with rather good standard of quality food. You could have a meal of steak with just less than $10. Their service is good, and has nice side dish that goes with it. I ordered fish instead, as I wanted to try something different from steak. To add on to the healthy meal, i order vegetables as my side dish and it's good. It is not a superly good food, but it is sure value for money. I would certainly try it again someday.

when u hear of republic of steak, what comes to ur mind? obviously steak! YUP! they sell the best steaks!!! i love their angus steak, so tender, it even melts in ur mouth. itself taste so good even without adding the sauce, but nevertheless, it taste better with the sauce! there are 3 choices to choose from Red Wine, Black Pepper or Mushroom. i would always choose black pepper. i simply love the peppery taste along with the tender and juicy steak!it comes with 2 sides dishs. i would always choose the potato salad and the onion rings! the potato salad is simply refreshing, the light sour cream sauce that they mixed the potato in is very delicious. the potato is quite crunchy yet soft at the same time. the onion rings is also really good, the batter is very fragrant. i love the way they fry it till golden brown. yummy!for the angus steak, if u find the original size of 200g simply not enough to hit the spot, u can increase the weight by 50g increment for just $4 per 50g.The republic pork ribs is also really good! the ribs are roasted till golden brown after which tasty bbq sauce is applied on it. so delicious. the ribs are tender and juicy. another must order dish!
