This bowl of noodles is so tasty that within two minutes, I have almost completed more than fifty percent of it. The soup base is thick and full of the natural sweetness of the prawn used in boiling it. The yellow noodles are also very chewy and not soggy. The prawns in it are also very fresh and crunchy too. The portion served is quite alright and the price is reasonable as well. continue reading

News spread like wild fire. I heard many talk about it so I decided to try it out on the penang cuisine that everyone is talking about. FoodMediocre. Yes Portion is of penang size! Crayfish is normal but most importantly. It is fresh and meat is easy to pull out of the shell.Wings are good, not too fried.Ordered sting ray for 2 person. Still prefer the portion outside.Char kway tiao is of penang style. I still prefer local's.AmbieneDinning place's lighting is quite cosy suitable for people who want to relax and have a slow meal.Service Staff and service are generally quite attentive. Not too bad.PricePrice wise, to dine in this location, i'm fine. continue reading

Know about this restaurant through DBS indulge, and decided to try it out.it was never disappointed and I and my friend enjoy the food greatly.it Tate's great that prepare us for the trip to Malaysia. The setting atmosphere is also right.taste the chef recommendation which is the stingray is totally different from what you normally ordered outside.it seem smaller but there lot of meat on it and I like especially the sauces that simply make me want to eat it again......it is not as spicy but great sweet curry taste. The crayfish noodle was also great as the crayfish is so fresh and easy to eat with just utensil, it just keep your hand clean. For the Assam laksa, it also look different without calm but simple and presentable. When you taste it, u will be simply in love with the sour taste of the soup just like Tom yam and for get about having calm like the usual laksa.moreover, the noodle itself is the noodle use in those like fish ball noodle, so it just a great of mix. And the same go of Bandung and chin chow......never tried this before but it just Taste great together with the food. It good for people who want it affordable and great atmosphere in enjoying the food and crave from something different or love creativity. The service is also great as when we decided to change the drink menus after we saw something more special and there simply agree to it those it almost in the process.when I forgot my stuff there after dinning, they just kept it for me and I mange to get it back in App short while. continue reading

Ever since I went to Penang's Gurney Drive few years ago, I have been searching for the best Penang food until one day my friends recommend me Singapore very own "Gurney Drive" at Suntec City. Hence I decided one day to try the Penang food with my friendsThe FoodI ordered the house specialties, Penang Fried Kuay Teow ($6.90), Penang Assam Laksa ($5.90) and not to be missed, Penang Rojak ($4.20) and Penang Chendol. I really enjoyed the food here because the chef come from Penang hence after eating, remind me of the "Penang" feel many years ago. The Penang Fried Kuay Teow is not too oily and the prawns were very fresh. As for the Penang Assam Laksa, the thick bee hoon is imported from Penang and is springy!! Lastly, the Penang chendol with fresh coconut milk with special brown sugar syrup refreshes my throat and complete my dinner The ServiceAlthough my friends and I have to wait outside due to long queue but the waitress were prompt and politely tell us to wait for a moment. My friends and I were ushered into the restaurant after a reasonable time, and they immediately responded whenever we have any requirements like pouring the ice water for usThe AmbienceAlthough inside is crowded but is a suitable place for chatting with friends as we were sitting in a corner which gave us the sense of privacy. The noise level was still acceptable for a crowded placeThe PriceReasonably priced without going to Penang at all to taste authentic Penang food OverallI will definitely come back again and highly receommended to try this restaurant! I really had a wonderful time and satisfied experience of the food and place !! continue reading

Heard a lot of wooha for Gurney drive. Decided to try out some of the best dishes from the reviews!Menu was kind of easy to understand, does not have any penang culture in the menu but the layout was set in a street-stall kind of feel, with black and white maximized images that are pasted on the four walls.Iced Yuan yang (regular) cost $3.30 and it was EXTREMELY good. We also tried the iced milk tea (teh) and it is super extremely sweet i just thought i was drinking sugar syrup. They serve free icewater as well but i believe it's from the tap since they have dasani bottles as well thus if you're sensitive to water please think twice!Rojak - $4.20. We totally enjoyed the rojak, it's dough fritters were crispy and they used a different kind of sweet sauce. the peanut was grind so fine that sips into each rojak piece, making it extremely crispy, delicious, perfect combination. this is a MUST TRY.Nasi Lemak - $5.90. very little ingredients, the coconut rice was hardly fragrant and the only thing that was there was like the egg, the ikan bilis, a little chicken and peanuts. i'd go against most of the reviews that declare that this is nice.Fried Kway Teow - $6.90. this is another MUST TRY that i read from other people's reviews and i'd have to agree with it. however i'd still prefer makansultra (the one at esplande) because it is warmer than this, when the food is served it tasted like room temperature, no smoke no nothing!Curry chicken rice - $5.90. well i always associate curry with penang laksa even though i now know they're totally different, since penang is near thailand i expected the curry to be like thai curry and more spicier, more delicious, more fragrant, but was quite disappointed. in fact the positive part of this is because of the large quantities of chicken!there were two service staff and they were not very friendly with their expressions/smiles but were quite helpful when we asked for mroe water etc. and also the cups had stains on it so i believe they didn't wipe it clean. continue reading
