matcha youtiaofirst time ever tried you tiao with matcha flavour, its quite special and nice, and interesting too coz of the creative idea. nowadays its the idea that costs the combination is quite good and suitable, the chewy dough is deep fried till golden colour, not too oily though. the youtiao itself is full with matcha (green tea) flavour, then the dough is very chewy and fragrant so i love it a lot. continue reading

This cup of coffee taste as good as what you will normally get from those traditional coffee shops and also some well known cafe too. The coffee flavour is very fragrant and with that slightly bitterness in it. Generous amount of condensed milk has been added to it which make it really fragant and thick in flavour too. The price is reasonable and the portion is consider quite generous. Have it with their crispy you tiao is simply delicious and enjoyable. continue reading

Have passed by this shop while shopping and was curious on their special menu which the you tiao served with their curry chicken, so decided to give it a try. The chicken drumstick served in the curry is quite big in portion and the curry gravy is fragrant and full with the fragrant from the coconut milk used in it. With the you tiao dip in the curry is quite unique, as you get to feel the savoury you tiao softness and with that little spicyness from the curry when you eat together. Not too bad but may not be a liking for those who cannot take spicy dish. Would be better if they can serve coconut fragrant rice instead of plain rice for their set meal. continue reading

Knowing how much I enjoy trying out interesting edible items, the husband suggested heading to Mr You Tiao for their you tiao stuffed with satay. Despite just finishing a whole baguette at Baguette, the creation sounded too good to miss and curiosity took over the Kat.Pardon me for the terrible photograph - it really wasn't too photogenic to begin with as it was falling apart. Besides the not too appetizing mess, it was an odd combination of fried you tiao, spicy satay, crispy lettuce and slightly sweet crepe that worked. You'll be enjoying the marriage of different tastes and textures too much to notice the floppy crepe that you had to hold up to get a good bite of everything at one go. That said, the husband and I agreed that the crepe was the star component!Because greed has a sneaky way of overcoming the logic of a full stomach (we just had dinner before this remember?), we had to order the You Tiao Sampler Platter. A mini-plateau of 10 fat pieces of you tiao greeted us along with a cup of tea and saucer of curry. The platter is a great way to try 5 different flavours: Sesame Seed, Onion, Matcha, Sunflower Seed and Original. The Match and Sesame Seed were my top 2, while the Onion failed to shine due to the ironic lack of onion flavour. Special mention about the curry which was pretty good. The tea on the other hand, could do with a tablespoon less of sugar!Overall, satisfying as the husband and I rolled out of the shop with bellies absolutely stuffed. continue reading
