After a movie at Golden Village, it was already quite late and my friend and I didn't want to walk far for food. We went into Cafe Cartel which was right infront of us. I ordered their St. Louis Pork Ribs ($15.60), which is an award winning spare ribs roasted with the restaurant's homemade BBQ sauce, served with side salad and wedges. The meat are tender and easy to separate from the bone, it was a very filling dish so I ended up giving 1/4 to my friend. He ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Hotplate ($15.60), which came in sizzling well. The chicken is also grilled to tender rightness paired with vegetables and wedges. Overall, the food were good but not exceptionally great. But can always be a good choice for a decent dinner. continue reading

Me and my friend went to cafe cartel for dinner last night and the shop was quite empty. I ordered the St Louis Pork Ribs with honey glaze sauce and my friend ordered the Hawaiian Pork chops and we top up the meal to a complete set( $3.90) and it comes with a bowl of soup, Garlic bread and a iced peach tea. The soup tasted alright but we don't quite like the bread in the soup But the garlic bread was nice! Next came our main dish.. Overall the taste was ok but the serving was quite big, I even ordered the regular size Pork ribs $15.60 ( you can opt for the small @ $11.20). However the coleslaw was not really fresh. As for the Hawaiian Pork ribs ( $ 18.50) , the meat was a little hard but overall is still alright. After the meal, we decided to have some cakes! We ordered a choco banana cake and a tiramisu and it comes with a free drinks. The cake was really yummy! They also had a promotion where the cakes are at 50% off after 9 pm! We were kinda early this time round but i will definitely come back for cakes as it's also a good place to catch up with friends! In addition, they really have alot of cake discounts such as student pass, citibank credit card, passion card and many more! We used passion card and got a 15% off the bill and it final bill was about $56 for 2 pax continue reading

Cafe Cartel is known for their pork ribs but if you don't want to have such a heavy meal, try their Pan-Fried Macaroni ($14.80) instead. It's macaroni pan fried with chicken and mushroom in sambal sauce. This dish is a little spicy with a slight tinge of sweetness and taste pretty decent. But this time round, even though they were generous with their chicken, I wish they had chopped the chunks properly as I found a lot of the chicken "stuck together". Very big plate so it was very filling. continue reading

I order a slice of Tiramisu Cheese Cake for takeaway. Usually costs $6.40+, but as it is after 9pm, it will costs me $3.40 after GST. This is because there is 50% off sliced cakes after 9pm. Tastes is too bland and light. I cannot taste the cheese which I usually expect in cheesecake. The strong coffee taste which one usually expect from Tiramisu cake is too light here. The cake is too soft and cannot hold its shape well. continue reading

The FoodI ordered the Cartel’s Special Mushroom Steak set meal which comes with soup, garlic bread & iced lemon tea. The soup of the day was chicken soup and is delicious and flavorful. The garlic bread was toasted till crispy and has a nice garlic flavour. As for the mushroom steak, the beef is tender, juicy and fresh and taste awesome with the nice and strong mushroom flavor sauce being drenched on topThe PriceReasonably priced at $22.40 + additional $3.90 for complete set mealOverallI will definitely come back again to try other set meals. continue reading
