I like Chuan Bee Lor Mee which is located at Hong Lim Food Centre. Usually I would choose to have bee hoon and it comes with slices of fish cake, braised pork belly and fried fish. It also comes with their special ngor hiang balls and fish nuggets, both very well seasoned and nicely fried. Lastly, you can choose to top it off with your choice of minced garlic, chilli paste, fresh cut chillies and/or coriander leaves, whichever way you like it. continue reading

I ordered a bowl of lor mee which comes with braised meat, fish cake, fried fish, fish nuggets and fried yam balls. Though thick and savory with a herbal tinge, the gravy seems to be lacking in flavour and does not complement the noodles well enough. I especially like the special fried yam balls that are sweet and crunchy and the fried fish that is fresh and tasty. While the lunch time crowd at Hong Lim feel that Chuan Bee lor mee is one of the best, it certainly did not live up to my expectations. As taste is subjective, do come down and try it for yourself. continue reading

I am rather a fan of lor mee, my sister went to order this dish but only ate half of it so I finished it up for her. The lor mee here is pretty good, the gravy is really thick and tasty. They used the yellow noodles for their noodles, the noodles were cooked quite ok, does not stick to your teeth. One thing I have to comment them is the generosity of their ingredients. The ngoh hiang that they added was really good, not too salty but taste very tasty. There was some fried crispy thing inside, after soaking up the gravy, it tasted really good. My sister added some of their chilli into the noodles, their chilli is not too bad, gave the dish a hot taste. As a whole it was not too bad. continue reading

The lor mee taste not bad,it is a bit sticky.Actually im not a lor mee lover, because i dislike the black color and the taste. It is quite heavy for me,and it has little chinese herbs taste. But as i have nothing to eat,i still can accept this. The ingredient is not very much, and this is really a small bowl.It just can fill my 3/4 of stomach, nevermind take it as keep fit. continue reading

Portion for the lor mee is reasonable for the price, though I doubt a female will be able to finish it without requesting for lesser noodles. The fried fish is not very crispy, but you can still feel the texture of the fish batter when you bite it. The fish is quite a solid piece unlike some stalls that give you wimps of it. However big, it lacks the tasty feel. Chilli is good, not overpowering. I love the fried “pork balls”, not too sure what that is but I enjoyed every bite of it. A good place to sink your teeth into when other stalls are so croweded continue reading
