See my full reviews & photos at = http://chefquak.com/2015/07/14/gold-authentic-thai-food-thai-gold-food-on-10jul2015/had a good 2pax thai dinner with wife at thai gold food on 10.7.2015. place was small with indoor & outdoor sitting. we were seated 7pm. soon a queue formed. calamansi was sour & not too sweet, S$1.50 a glass so quite ok. i prefer the more intense lemon but this was quite refreshing. we ordered the S$10 tom yam goong (prawns). there were 6 fresh prawns, soup was good. of course not to be compared with patara which cost 2.5x more, but i liked this better than the clear tomyam talay at nakhon @ amk which i had recently. we liked the S$10 green curry chicken. this the “dry” curry version. it was very flavourful & the chicken was tender. i prefer though the soupy green curry at nakhon @ amk where i finished up all the curries.^^ the S$10 bbq pork was a recommended dish. it was good. the total bill came to S$34. the dishes were slightly more expensive than nakhon @ amk. they were more satisfying for me though, it really depend on dishs preference & what we ordered. e.g. i prefer the red tomyam to the clear version. continue reading

I got my green curry fix for $6 here. For some reason after seeing so many people post about their trip to BKK, I really felt like I needed some part in dear Thailand. So here at Thai Gold Food, it's a simple unassuming restaurant and they do authentic Thai food. I love the chilli padi in fish sauce that they provide in ample amounts on the table along with chilli flakes and sugar. It was really authentic. Rich and comforting. It had my favourite little brinjals and ample amounts of chicken breast meat. I, of course, finished the gravy too. And without rice. It was just alright on salt content continue reading

Along with a friend, i had a Sunday lunch at Thai Gold. The ambiance is a very basic. Lol, I am not even sure it qualifies as ambiance. But, we were just looking for some tasty food and we found it.The service was straight-forward. They are not going to ask you how your day is going but they are going to make sure your order is taken and your food is brought out in a timely manner. The crispy calamari was very good. Almost immediately, I polished this off. It was crispy. It did not have an oily flavor and the calamari was tender with a mild flavor. My main was a chicken dish with lots of black pepper. It was so flavorful. The veggies were fresh and NOT over-cooked. So, they helped cut through the black pepper. I thought it made for a great lunch. My friend had a vermicelli dish. It didn't look like much but she didn't seem to mind. She joyfully ate it all.We shared some greens. By this I mean, I had a bite and my friend ate the remaining. These were perfectly cooked and quite flavourful.Overall this is a basic restaurant with basic service and pretty good Thai food. If you are in the neighbourhood and need lunch, I can give it a two thumbs up. continue reading

I've been to this thai restaurant several times because I'm a thai food lover. Full review here: http://chiamhuiy.blogspot.com/2013/03/thai-gold-thai-food-review.htmlI've been to thailand before and I pretty much could relate the food being served here. The food here are prepared by thai people as well so be prepared to have some authentic thai food! Usually the place is so filled and packed such that they will set up new tables outside of the restaurant. This actually shows how popular they are, despite during non-peack hours! I ordered the Tom Yum Soup as usual, as I love it From the photo you can see there are plenty of ingredients and seafood inside the tom yum soup. They are really generous for a $8 bowl of tomyum soup. The taste wise was both sour and spicy. That should really be what you look for in tom yum soup. Some tom yum soup elsewhere are simply either just spicy or just sour alone. Now a days it's really tough to find authentic thai soup like this. My bf ordered the chicken and egg rice. The chicken was stir fried with their thai spices and coupled with an enormous fried egg. The sauce of the stir-fried chicken was pretty good and tasty too. Ahh at last! Comes my favourite pad thai! Their pad thai had a slight tangy taste. It wasn't mean to be spicy either. The seafood in between was great and I love it! The noodles has a good level of chewiness and stickiness too. Hope you like my review! continue reading

A couple of us were craving for some delicious thai food so we headed to thai gold food for some authentic thai food. We ordered a large pineapple rice to share followed by a payaya salad, tom yum soup, fried omelet and fried vegetables. The pineapple rice was really fragrant, you can taste the sweetness of the pineapple in the rice. topped with a lot of pork floss, it adds extra fragrance to the rice. there were a lot of pineapple chunks and cashew nuts as well. The tom yum soup was indeed spicy but it really hits the spot. It goes really well with the pineapple rice. the payaya salad indeed opens up your appetite, the sourness of the green payaya has this satisfying effect. As a whole, the meal was rather cheap and it is hard to find such authentic thai food around. continue reading
