Pontian Wanton Mee is probably one of those wanton mee places that have been synonymous with crazy lunchtime crowds packed with office workers and hungry students. I've never really gotten round to trying their noodles despite hearing so much about it -today was an exception because Graffiti Cafe is really empty pre-lunch, at around 11.They serve not only wanton mee, but also other snacks + coffee and tea. For $3.80/$4.30 you can expect a hearty bowl of wanton noodles w a bowl of soup. This $3.80 bowl came with 2 fried and 2 steamed wantons, sliced charsiew and chye sim. The noodles were a pleasant surprise because they had a nice spring to it, al dente, the way it should be! The first time I had a mouthful of the pontian wanton me it was so unbearably salty that i never thought I would ever try it again. This one however, was just right. The chilli wasn't overly spicy such that it ruined the taste of everything else. While the wantons were really small, they were nevertheless tasty. The fried ones weren't bitter and had a particular fragrance to it that was oddly appetising despite it being deep fried. The steamed ones however, had a really thin skin and were on the verge of disintegrating. Texture aside, the taste was there.Pontian Wanton Mee is a quickfix for your wtm cravings in the comfort of a cafe style setting. It gets pretty crowded though so I wouldn't recommend you hang around after polishing off your bowl of noodles! continue reading

Dessert with my friends at pontian as one of them was craving for "ah bao ling" aka glutinous balls soup. which ended group of us having that. You can have the choice of ginger soup/ sugar soup, for people who love the fragrant spice taste of ginger you can choose the ginger soup. the cost of the soup is $2 with quite a amount of glutinous balls. However I would say that the downside of the shop would probably be too cramp to accommodate large group (8 and above) as the design is a T shaped design which kind off make the alley quite squeezy. continue reading

This branch of the cafe is located at Nex Mall and is a new addition. This cafe is one of the last outlets to close in the mall, and that's why there is always a steady stream of customers there. This cafe may be popular for its Pontian wanton noodles and Graffiti-allowed tables. However, I discovered, quite by chance, that there are mouth-watering tradiitonal desserts available here, too. It was almost 10pm and I was longing for a late night snack when i chanced upon this cafe.It serves a variety of local desserts both hot and cold - such as Green Bean Soup, Red Bean Soup and Longan with Almond Jelly, to name a few.I tried my all-time favourite dessert, Black Glutinous Rice or Pulut Hitam. The Dessert is not too sweet and you can ask for more or less coconut milk. The consistency is not too thick and it is a wholesome night snack. This will be my regular haunt for night snacks. continue reading
