Located at the second floor of a shophouse, one enters through a narrow staircase. The cafe is quite cute looking with the cute monkey pictures on the wall. I feel like a child looking at the monkey soft toy on the rocking horse. I just feel like sitting on the rocking horse. Although the place is not big, there is not much customers around, just 6 customers - a group of 4 playing board games and another of 2 aunties chit chatting away. There is a huge TV set but is not turned on as it was spoiled. There are some books available for reading on the shelf. Free Wifi is available at the cafe.Their menu is written with chalk on the wall. I have selected the sofa bench and regretted my choice. I sink all the way down and barely able to keep my head above the table. I have to add another pillow to slightly increase my height.Ice/ Hot Chocolate ($7)Not as thick as I prefer. A bit watered down.King Kong Breakfast ($18)Triple stacked pancakes, quarter pounder beef patty, sautéed mushroom, bacon strips & truffle fries, served with Hollandise sauce & vinaigrette greens.Serving is quite huge. The patty is a bit too dry. The fries smells great but tastes dry and hard.Honey Chicken with Sour Cream ($16)Japanese Yuzu marinated chicken, grilled potatoes, served with bacon, sour cream, and chives.Cannot taste any unique flavour of Yuzu or honey on the chicken. The potatoes are a bit too charred.Overall the food is average. Service is slow and we waited quite awhile for both food and bill. continue reading

This place is nice for a relaxed afternoon. We tried the Lava cake and it does not live up to my expectation as as chocolate did not flow out like Lava...seems it is not heated enough. The ice cream is surprising good though. For $10, it is ok, balanaced by the ice cream. We also tried the Beef Stew - they do not have the butter rice ready, so we were given bread instead. The beef Stew is nice in taste but seems a little less for $15. Service wise, I feel the waiter/ waitress could be more attentive. Considering that the place is not very crowded on a Sat afternoon (only 3 groups including us), I waved my hand for attention 3 times and they could not see me at the counter. In the end, I have to walk over...service could be improved...Overall, nice place to chill, hang out for the afternoon with your loved ones.  continue reading

This is my first time going to this restaurant. It was a hippy feeling restaurant that was reeking of youthful vibes. Most of the people we saw there were young people too. We ordered the brat stack, which was pancake combo with sausages and salad and hash browns. The pancake was fluffy and light, it went well with the maple syrup. I had never had pancake as main course before so it was a first for me. continue reading

Hungry Chimps has a nice dining environment, and conducive to chill during weekdays when there aren't many customers. They also have weekday set lunches which is quite affordable. I tried the chicken chop, meat was a little tough, but sauce was not bad - quite average though. The crinkle-cut fries on the side was also not impressive. I've read that their breakfast is good, probably have to try those. continue reading

FoodOne of my friends suggested we should come here for gathering on a good friendly morning for brunch. This is the menu cover. The monkey is so cute. This is chimps's speciality calamari rings at $13. A tasty plate of rings coated with thin layer of fried batter and its rings is not as "springy". Easily chewable and the cripsy of the fried batter goes so well with the little bowl of tartar sauce. The king kong breakfast comes with 3 pancakes (muffins) toasted with cheddar cheese, truffle fries, a beef patty, sauceed mushroom, greens and bacon. The pancakes are confirmed better than what we have from the macdonald. Loves the 2 small tomatoes that comes in the plate. Once bitten, the juice will ooze out at great pressure, so be careful...This is the black fried cod fish comes with fried potatoes and grilled carrots. I love the carrots as it is not too hard and it tastes yammy. As for the cod fish. It will be better to clear away the stinky smell.Chilli beef cheese fries are so cheesy and it can only makes me think of some indian cuisine that resembles the eating sensation, which is mutarbak. . Cost $13Yuzu Honey chicken tastes great too as well.Fresh Strawberry milkshake with marshmallows has a cute presentation and it costs $9. One of the must try drink!ServiceWe have 9 persons and we split our into 3 groups in different timing. Once you ordered the food, you have to wait for sometime before you get served.AmbienceQuite a quiet environment which bright chairs and they even have sofa chairs too. The restaurants are warmly decorated by big drawn posters of naughty but cute monkeys everywhere.Suitable for big gatherings and throwing events here! The toliet is at the end of the restaurant and you will get to feel the heat then you walk into the backend section.PriceThe food is good and price is average. With this kind of pricing. I will definitely come back again!Recommendations / TipsDue to slow service, it is not recommended for people who is hungry. continue reading
