While waiting for my friend at Yew Tee Mrt, I went to nearby 1983 Cafe to have some drinks. The cafe was air condition. Since it was drizzling, I ordered a cup of hot coffee. The cup of coffee in this cafe was surprising cheap at $1.The cup of coffee was piping hot, I had to use the spoon to drink sip by sip. The coffee had nice arabica aroma. The taste was also rich in arabica beans with no sourish aftertaste. The sweetness and creaminess of the coffee were also just right. I think the local staff was quite experience in making a good cup of coffee.Overall, I was very surpised that this 1983 cafe sells good coffee at neighbourhood kopitiam prices. continue reading

Dinner for me and my family at 1983 A taste of Nanyang. I browse the menu and most of their food was a little spicy so i opted for their Nasi Lemak. The guy at the cashier was kind enough to warn me that it would take 5 minutes to prepare my food. Indeed the five minutes wait was worth it, when they served the fried chicken, it was piping hot and very crispy. i like their pandan rice, so fragrant. it is pretty unique to see pandan rice around. continue reading

I decided to try the Assam Laksa from 1983 A Taste of Nanyang. It was one of their signature dish. The portion of the Assam Laksa is really a lot. The amount of noodles they gave was so much I could barely finish half. Their noodles is the thick white kind, had a chewy texture. the gravy is made from minced fish, very tasty and sourish. i like it that they added fresh pineapples to the dish, gave it more acidity. continue reading

Decided to go for the mee rebus as it has been a while since I last eat mee rebus. The presentation wise is a little messy but still acceptable and is garnish with sliced onion and sliced green chili. The noodle is sufficiently cooked, not stick together and has a soft texture. As for the gravy, it is well seasoned, have the sufficient thickness and has some coarse peanut which enhance the flavour of the gravy. Other than mee rebus, this stall also sells food like mee siam, bee hoon, toast with kaya and butter, nasi lemak and more. continue reading
