I have heard about The Vault Bistro at 23 Circular Road, Singapore 049379 (Tel: 6223 5001) and good reviews about it from different friends - whether one chooses to dine at the bistro on level one or chill in level two's high-ceiling lounge. Which is why when Katherine* suggested going there with Edison* and Zachery*, I was more than happy to agree. The Vault has an actual bronze steel-reinforced vault door from a bank vault that weighs a ton and a rather chic interior that boosts a hybrid wine cellar, bistro and relaxed concept- comfortable and yet stylish. Service was a little slow, but other than that, the comforting ambience was really rather satisfying. We started our meal with a bottle of red and ended the meal with a round of drinks up at the lounge upstairs. We had the Ribeye Steak, medium doneness, with grilled wedges and a delicious herb-butter to spread over the thick and tender steak. The steak was grilled to perfection and filled the mouth and teeth with pleasure as they work to chew on the juicy meat. The herb butter was rich and fragrant, and the wedges were almost-crispy on the outside and softly on the inside, the way I liked it.Next in line, we were served the Crabmeat Pasta in Tomato Sauce - another supremely done dish with springy pasta strands infused in a sweet-sour tomato sauce - not too wet, just enough to drench the noodles with a touch of goodness. The crab meat flakes were scattered throughout the pasta dish and tasted lovely in its sweet-sour-saline blend. Last but not least, the Fish Pie, also for sharing. We were a little disappointed that it was merely tender slices of fish baked with mashed potato under a layer of golden-crispy cheese. Nonetheless, it was palatable and the mashed potato contained tiny chunks of potatoes so for potato lovers, you would love this dish. For more detailed information and photos, do check out:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/01/dinner-at-vault-bistro.html continue reading

Dimly lit and very cosy. It also helped that we had a massive table of people there. Honestly, their clientele is of the expat type and well, need i mention about the girls that are inevitably drawn along? In any case, that's mostly the mayhem that goes on in the bar upstairs. I'm right at home in the bistro downstairs. What's good on the menu? And I shouldn't have asked. But for a chef who doesn't eat vegetables, this was very good.Warm beef seared ever so perfectly. If i'm eating the fat rind, this must be bloody awesome. Sitting atop a bed of rocket with two slices of juicy momotaro tomatoes.Well, this was my main and nope, not sharing. continue reading

My friend was introduced me to this restaurant as he never try but only saw this restaurant by surfing internet.Well, when I was there, there are 2 big green rubbish bin just outside the door.I was thinking why they not put at side or shift to somewhere else? Okay then, I walked in with my friend, the inside environment looks quite dark, it is somehow like a romantic place which first came to my mind.Well, for food there are some choices like salad, burger, pizza and pasta. While for drinks: there are mocktails(non-alcoholic),beer and cocktail(alcoholic). For your info,on Thursday, there is 50% for the second burgers order. The front page of the menu looks:And my friend was ordered a cocktail drink (Mojito) $18 for 1.Well, short words to describe the day:I dislike the place as the first impression was not good enough.1. The first person service us never mentioned that there is happy hour for 1-1 alcohol drinks, until we ordered other alcohol drinks and another person served us and tell us the regarding happy hour.2. The food is served slow!3. The food, price slightly expensive, sorry to say so, but taste only OK!Below show the food i ordered, (The vault wagyu burger) $20 for 14. The bill also served slow.Well, I can only say this place is nice to have a drinks and just sit for relax as i stated above that the environment inside is dark and romantic and some artistic photos on the wall. So, at the end we ordered a tequila mix with oranges juice ($28 for 2 tequila while orange juice $4 for 2).Overall, I am just disappointed for the dinner Sorry to say so. It is just a feeling but not a complaint. continue reading
