I am a fan of kuehs and will often like to try the kuehs from most stalls that I pass by. After lunch, I was still hungry thus I ordered two soon kuehs to try. The soon kuehs taste nice and they go especially well with the dark sweet sauce. They also sold rice kuehs and yam cakes. Both look very appealing but I was too full to try thus I decided to go back and patronize the stall soon! continue reading

I went to old airport road with my parents for breakfast. Before we left, my mother insisted on buy some steamed yam cake and soon kueh back home. This stall’s steamed yam cake is really delicious. it is really soft and tasty. They topped it off with a lot fried shallots. These shallots are fried till very fragrant, it gave this dish a contrast in textures. The soon kueh is so awesome, they were so generous with the filling. The fillings was so tasty, there was some sweetness and saltiness. It was a little crunchy too. They provided us with black sauce and chilli. The chilli was really good, though on the hot side, my sister could not take it, it was too spicy for her. The black sauce brought out the flavour of both the yam cake and the soon kueh. It was indeed satisfying. continue reading

This stall is selling different types of traditional handmade snacks. I wanted to order glutinous rice cake initially but changed my mind when i overheard one of their regular customers ordered the steamed yam cake and steamed pumpkin cake. Both served in a plastic corner for $2.00 each. Upon order, they opened up the lid to add in the fried shallots. They packed the chilli sauce and the sweet dark sauce separately. Be warned! the chilli sauce provided is crazily hot. I underestimated it and ended up went looking for water after the first mouthful. The texture of both was very soft. It tasted even nicer after added in the sweet dark sauce and chilli sauce. Both of them are ideal for light snack to go in between lunch and dinner as well as good for breakfast. I shall be back to try the rest soon. continue reading

It was another food in Old Airport Road FoodCentre. This time I am going to post pictures of Soon Kueh, Ku Cai Kuah. Their food product was selling at 5 for $2. CHEAP! When I reached the stall, I saw a man kneading dough to make all the kueh. All the kueh sells in this stall was traditional homemade, which I believe thats the reason why their kueh tasted marvelous Do go and try it continue reading
