It was my first time at Star Vista and they had this really cool outdoor section with a row of chillout places. We settled on Señor Taco because it was 1-for-1 cocktail (Mojitos!). It was a good choice because the food menu really looked delicious but there were only 2 of us so we settled for this:cochinita yucateca – shredded pork in special adobo and achiote marinade. served with corn tortillas ($28.90)You are supposed to wrapped all that stuff in a corn tortillas. The tortillas were surprisingly tasty without being industrial at all. And even if I don't usually like pork the pork was very very soft and tasty. It reminds me abit of the chinese stewed pork. POrtions were very good too, though we could do with more salsa. I love this place and after searhcing online realised they have a copy of branches. Will definitely go back to try more of their other food. continue reading

Even though I've been to star vista quite a number of times, I did not notice this place until my dining companion pointed it out to me. No wonder, cos you have to pass through 2 more restaurants before you get to this place on the second level hence it's easy to miss out. However, there's a staircase at the side which leads up right to the restaurant. It's located on the periphery of the star vista compound, so if you can get a seat facing the Rochester area, you get quite a nice view of greenery around you. On a cool day, you'll get a breeze passing through the restaurant which is open-air although there's still shelter above you. There's a lunch offer of a choice of a main (4 to choose from - fish tacos, quesadilla, burrito or a fish stew (I forgot the name)) and a soft drink for $9.90.We tried the fish tacos and the chicken burrito - you can choose either chicken or pork with an option to top up $2 if you want steak. - Fish TacosTry this only if you are a small eater. The fried fish inside was quite tasty with the mayo sauce drizzled over it. But I find the amount of fish given too little. Also, besides the shreds of purple cabbage, there was nothing else besides the fish in the tacos. The tortilla is the soft kind - it's too limp for my liking. Will not order this again. - Chicken burritoThe burrito is stuffed full with a lot of ingredients - I could taste Mexican rice, soft black beans, melted cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, purple cabbage and some roasted chicken pieces within. It's quite filling mainly because of the rice & beans. Will be better if they put more chicken inside. Maybe due to the tomatoes, the sauces in the burrito were oozing a bit out of the ends. Generally ok-tasting, I've had better burritos before. The sour cream dip is mild-tasting, the guacamole dip fares much better - I wish they would have put more avocado inside though. They've added some fresh tomatoes and sliced onions within the guacamole, probably to make up for the lack of avocado. I was wondering about the banana leaf that they use to serve the food on, in the plate. It looked really out of place and sure did not add any flavor to the dishes...puzzling.If you are not too particular about the food and just want to have a taste of something different in a nice ambience, you can try this place. continue reading
