Most foodies would have visited at least a dozen buffet spreads lunch or dinner at many of the restaurants in various hotels in Singapore.Have you ever wonder who cater or provide all the Nyonya kueh kueh as part of the buffet spread. Its none other than Kedai Kue Kue. Their handmade delicacies are found at Hard Rock Hotel, Universal Studios (Singapore), St. Regis, Grand Hyatt, Shangri-La, Ritz Carlton, Four Sewasons, Raffles Hotel, Royal Plaza on Scotts, Oriental Hotel and the list goes on.My favourite from Kedai Kue Kue are the Kue Bingka Ubi and Talam Ketan priced at 80 cents each.Closeup of the ala carte kue kue display. continue reading

I sampled some of the Chinese New Year goodie from Kedai Kue Kue at Great World City. The promoter offered me the best seller which was the Emping Cookie which the main ingredient was emping. I did not get any bitter taste of emping. If I were to eat Emping cracker, I would get the bitter taste of genuine emping. However, when emping is blended with flour, butter, the emping flavor had diluted. Per tube of emping cracker costs $11.50 while the cookie costs $14.80, comes with 25 pieces. The cookie is not heavy with butter. It is light texture. The next item which I tried was shrimp roll, 300 gram per bottle at #12.30. The shrimp roll is long which means the there are many times of roll and the filling is not generous. It is not oily. The last item which I tried was pillow pineapple tarts costs $17.80 with 25 pieces. There is no cracker of the pillow pineapple tarts skin which means that the tarts are baked not too long. The texture is light weight with sufficient butter. The pineapple is not thick. Among the 3 sampled items, I liked the Emping Cracker as it gave the genuine taste, pineapple tarts which had light weight butter flavor and emping cookies. continue reading

Bought a box of Chocolate Butter Cookies for Chinese New Year from Kedai Kue Kue at Great World City at an extremely affordable price. The attractive appearance of the cookies really captivated my eyes so I decided to buy them to try, despite knowing that they are very fattening. The cookies were very well arranged and beautiful, there were approximately 50 cookies in the box.Nevertheless, I find the quality of the plastic box really bad as it cracked when I accidentally leaned on the box.The cookies were not as sweet as I expected, which is a good thing for me.It was slightly buttery so they are still fattening. The icing toppings were thick and sweet.Overall, not a bad try continue reading

Have been craving for nice pandan chiffon cake all the time and last month I just happened to stumble on this small counter selling different kue kue, cookies and cakes. I was welcomed by the fragrant pandan when the packaging was removed and the texture was moist and really fluffy and lesser colouring flavour. It caught me by surprise that it really tasted nice and already bought a few of the chiffon cakes since then. Currently they have a promotion for this month(August) with a dollar off the usual price of $6.80. Worth trying. continue reading
