I have bought a giant platter to share with my friend during out dinner gathering. The platter comes out to be quite big in portion and is really good to serve at least two person. Love the butter rice which is very fragrant and not too soggy. The sotong rings are abit too tough in texture. The fried prawns are very crunchy and fresh. However the side vegetables are abit too dry as well. continue reading

I have to admit, before I tried Hooked!, I've been going to Manhattan Fish Market every once in a while. The place still has rather bad ventilation but it is definitely bustling with business and people.Staff rather attentive though it was a weekend. Ordered the following:- Crispy Whitebait- Fried Country Mushrooms- Manhattan Seafood Platter for 2Had only ice water Whitebait is like meatier ikan bilis, which comes deep fried and served with coleslaw on the bottom and a tartare dip, not bad, but nothing impressive.Fried Country Mushrooms are not bad, but the batter might not appeal to some. A bit thick.Manhattan Seafood Platter was huge. Rice, prawms, deep fried oysters, calamari and fillet fish. All was good, except the calamari could've been done better. continue reading

My friend add on the soup-of-the-day, which was cream of mushroom and a can of soft drink to his main course. As for me, Idid not add on as I did not want the mundane cream of mushroom soup. His set was the seafood platter which includes 2 prawns, some sotongs, fish fillet, fries, garlic rice and some vegetables. It sounds like a spread but actually a single person can finish all up. I ordered the herbs fillet (forgot the actual name) as I did not want to eat too heaty food that day. I changed the vegetables to fries Fries and garlic rice means more carbohydrates for me to gain weight. I asked for more mayonnaiseas the fries were too dry by iteself. The fish covered with herbs was real tasty, maybe also due to the fact that I like herbs flavoured food. The aluminium foil also contained the 'juice' and also the oil of the herbs-soaked fillet. continue reading

Obviously Manhattan fish market is not the place to go when you are on a diet. Everything is fried fried fried. Nope not that I am complaining. In fact I think the food or rather the platter for 2 is not that bad. I mean it is not fantastic, at the end of the day everything taste the same cos it is all FRIED. But i guess thats the reason why it is sometimes quite... shiok to indulge in something like that. Well if you are too overly worried about your health, you could ask them for lots of garlic. Gosh the garlic and mayo do make the meal complete and sinfully good. I repeat it is not fantastic, but not too bad either. continue reading

If you have been to Fish & Co, you will think that the concept and food served at this restaurant is very similar. Ordered the Small Flame Platter which consists of a huge variety of food - Flaming prawns, grilled fish, butter rice, fries and steamed vegetable. Though this platter is meant for 1 pax, the serving is huge. Do share with someone if you do not wanna waste food. Generally, the food tastes quite good, particularly the grilled fish and flaming prawns. Yumz... continue reading
