Being a regular shopper in Jurong Point Mall , Let's Clap has never been in my mind for meals as it is often forgotten due to its location (They are located outside the mall). Being such a regular, there were not much choice of food and we decided to explore the eateries out of the mall. As we stepped out of the mall, the "No Service Charge, nett" sign was quite prominent and without much hesitation, our dining place was decided.Let's Clap main dishes were its crabs served in different sauces. However, we decided to go for lighter meal for the night and had them a skip.Upon sitting down, this menu was handed over to us. The menu looked torn with scotch tape all over and as if flipping it would get any page detached. Do flip them carefully. The entire place was rather spacious and I felt that eating Zi Char with a better environment enclosed with air-conditioned and great spots lights from the ceilings. The place was brightly lighted, look at the amount of lights installed on the ceiling. We cant go without drinks on every meal and these herbal drinks were sealed and stored in the chiller. It's been long since I had the "Wet" style of bee Hoon from Zi Char. I would say that the taste was average, not too much of excitement in the food. But bear with me a little, I have to rant that the Seafood like the Sotongs and Sliced Fish were rather stinky, not that they were not fresh but rather the way how they were prepared. Perhaps by adding some ginger slices would have reduced the smell.Perhaps this is the best out of 3 dishes ordered. The salty tasting from the preserved beans with a little bit of spiciness from the chopped chilli had rounded up the dish with the fragile Toufu.Personally I'm quite particular with the quality when it comes to such a common dish which is also my favourite dish in Zi Char. The taste of sweet and sour was fair enough however when it comes to the meat portion, I'm totally disappointed. Felt really shortchanged with the amount of meat coated under the batter and sweet sour sauce. There were far too much fat than meat given. Total Cost for 2 Pax: $29.60. In summary, their food was rather standard. Why was it crowded? Perhaps in the mall, the price of Zi Char from Restaurants were over budget and their "No Service Charge" rate was pretty attractive.Do visit http://www.umakemehungry.com/2013/12/lets-clap.html for review continue reading

I tried Let's Clap Seafood Restaurant (but it isn't exactly a restaurant at all) on the Saturday after Singapore hit PSI400. This place is somewhat like a food court, but is barricaded by glass walls away from every other stall around. The first thing I noticed was that they had round tables! Well what's a tze char meal without round tables? I know, I care about the littlest details but those are important to me. Round tables remind me of jolly things like reunion and togetherness. You can either order in tze-char style with an a la carte menu or steamboat when you are here. Apparently the steamboat is more popular here because I was at the only table eating tze char. Here is what we ordered (2 pax): This is the seafood tofu dish - the tofu itself was not the egg tofu or the hotplate tofu sort of texture, but of rougher texture. It was passable; the other ingredients inside shone out more. There were well-braised winter mushrooms, sweet prawns, chicken and red pepper bells. I liked the sauce the most, I can eat so much rice with that sauce itself! The next dish we ordered is the Fu Yong egg, I guess a very popular tze char dish everywhere. Honestly who can ruin this dish? It's quite ok, although I wish it could be saltier and fluffier. We could not finish the egg, so we asked the auntie to pack the remaining three-quarters for us, which she kindly obliged. Total spending was about $8/pax. continue reading

Red Garoupa steamboat, thai style chicken, and sambal kangkong Red Garoupa Steamboat ($30) smallest sizesoup was too salty and there were not much fish meat. Mostly were bones. It was quite a disappointment.Sambal kangkong ($8?)It was not spicy at all even though we requested for it to be more spicy.Thai style chicken tasted ordinary.Hygiene needs to be improved as the cleaning/dustbin area was quite exposed. continue reading

I decided to treat myself to nice Zi Char dinner to reward myself for a hard day of work. I ordered their Mee Goreng and Sambal Potato Leaves. The mee goreng was really good, the portion was significantly large. it was not very spicy and did not have strong tomato ketchup taste unlike other zi char's stall mee goreng. however i did not really enjoy the sambal potato leaves. i found it a little bland tasteless and totally not spicy. continue reading

A group of us decided to head to Let's Clap Seafood for Zi Char dinner. You cannot really find any Zi Char stalls in Jurong Point. We were thinking what to order and the waitress recommended their Signature Fish Steamboat, they have two kinds of soup, milk and normal. we opted for their milk soup. it was indeed the right choice, the soup was just so tasty. the fish inside was so fresh too. we also ordered a plate of sambal potato leaves. i find their this dish a little bland, the sambal was not spicy at all, the dish was simply unseasoned. continue reading
