Had my birthday treat at one of my favourite restaurants...FOODTung Lok's Roasted PorkThe "skin" is quite crispy which makes it so appealing. This dish is quite popular and need reservation before coming. Boiled PrawnsThe prawns are quite big and fresh. They have a special sauce which tastes great when eaten with the prawns. Pork with fruitsThe gravy is abit sour but the pork is quite crispy. Not too bad nevertheless!Fried Golden Mushroom with KaleI like the fragrance of the fried golden mushroom. Quite crispy and tasty too!Tung Lok's Chili CrabIt was served with the fried buns. The buns were crispy and the chili crab gravy would taste better if more chili was added to it. My birthday cake + Tung Lok's Longevity bunsThe longevity buns were actually their custard buns in a different "wrapping".SERVICESo I was surprised when the waitress served us the longevity buns together with my birthday cake coupled with a chinese poetry wrote by the chef. Out for so many restaurants I have been, this was the first restaurant that went the extra mile for my birthday celebration, left me with an unforgettable impression. The poetry is mainly a birthday greeting written in chinese poem. The waitresses also sang a birthday song to me personally instead of playing the music on soundtrack. Could feel the sincere wishes coming from them. Kudos to them!OVERALLI'd always love Tung Lok's grp of restaurants. They offer great food and service, always portraying a positive side of their reputation and image to the customers.

I like to come here for executive lunch, I have no doubt on their quality on food and service. This time round, I was alone and wanted to have something good. The worse was I didn’t have big appetite, I wanted to have more but I didn’t want to waste food. Therefore, I ordered just one plate of deep fried bean curd with mix mushrooms. A very simple vegetarian dish went with plain rice.I am really choosy on gravy. If a dish can go without it, I am more delighted. I would say this was the only gravy I would love. The rich taste would bring out the mushrooms and bean curd taste a level higher. A deep fried bean curd, what does it expect normally? Nothing much, right? This one isn’t the same, you have to try it then you will know. My guess, it was slow fry till golden brown, the technique is difficult, the flame and oil temperature are precisely to be correctly set. This is a place worth to spend for quality Chinese dishes.

Started off May'13 with a simple yet nice dinner cum Birthday celebration for a girlfriend at Tung Lok Signatures, Vivo City Pork Belly $10 - This is pretty good & it's not very fattening, with layer of crispy skin! For the main, we ordered the Signatures Seafood Set for 4 pax $218 Braised Fish Maw with Crab Meat in Pumpkin Stock - Ain't a fan of Pumpkin soup, but this definitely won me over with generous serving of Crab meat& Fish Maw. Deep-fried Conpoy with Salted Egg-yolk served with Lettuce - Favorite dish of the night with fresh & huge Canpoy (Scallop). Love the amount of Salted Egg-yolk too!Apart from the 2 dishes above, there are few more dishes in the list of the set meal. We had dinner there last Friday, and ordered:1) Fried cod fillet with salt egg yolk and organic vegetables -- batter we felt was too thick and overpowered the taste of the cod fish.. we felt it would be nicer if the batter was thinner and reduced.. 2) Poached vegetables with Pumpkin stock - generous portion, but vegetables was ok. 3) Bamboo Clam - Normal, but the sauce was nice. We are regular patrons of Tung Lok restaurants since some time back, and thought they should come up with some new dishes in their menu to surprise their customers.... after a while, we ran out of dishes to order.. . quite bored of the same dishes..
