I went with sis & b-i-l to azmaya for dinner this evening on 10.11.2014. :-)i bought S$6pax pork shabu shabu voucher from qoo10. for 3pax it's S$18, and we had to pay GST + service to the merchant i.e. azmaya.i had dinner at azmaya a few times before, and food & service were very good. i also read the customers’ review on qoo10 & they were mostly good.the single serving of shabu shabu pork had about 10 to 12 slices. i estimated about 100g maybe?there was the usual vege to accompany the meat shabu shabu.there was a choice of konbu (昆布) seaweed soup or chicken soup. i picked chicken soup.the quality of pork here was really good, don’t know if it’s kurobuta but it was very flavourful. :-)the leek, mushrooms, japanese flat rice noodles (like tanhoon) etc were all good, & there was also udon (we picked udon but there was also a choice of rice).the service was very good, very polite, and they would serve you when you asked, even though using a cheap voucher.i think the pricing does not make any sense, but of course i am not complaining. there are fixed costs & there are perishables, so perhaps it’s better to pack it with customers.i am just pleasantly surprised that the restaurant maintained their service attitude so well, and so professional – you actually get what was advertised & sold to you w/o any fuss, and it was really great value.can’t eat this all the time, but if there is promotion again later will surely come again. For full review: http://chefquak.com/2014/11/10/very-good-pork-shabu-shabu-3pax-dinner-azmaya-on-10nov2014/ continue reading

For mthe soft bite, adding that eggs are always my favorite.Squid which comes in whole. Another dish that I favored because of its firm and springy taste, which makes me go for more.Gyoza, another must-order item in Azmaya. Lightly pan-fried, with thick gyoza skin encompassing the juicy fillings.Tempura, a Japanese dish of battered and fried seafood and vegetable combination.…For more details, please visit http://www.foodesteem.com/2014/09/azmaya.html continue reading

Azmaya is opened by a group of Japanese and they have many outlets in Japan. So glad that they came to Singapore!Loved their super fresh and thinly sliced wagyu beef here. The Goma or Sesame Sauce complements the Wagyu beef very well. It's definitely a must try! Others worth a try are their sashimi platter which is equally fresh and also their grilled squid.Full review here: http://ilovedawn00.blogspot.sg/2014/09/food-review-azmaya-shabu-shabu.html continue reading

As mentioned in the title, Azmaya provides good food but the service was horrible. Firstly, there was no air condition in the restaurant. Secondly, the place was hot and humid. Thirdly, wrong dishes were sent to us at least thrice. To make things worse, we waited for almost an hour for the broth to be served to us with all the vegetables and meat thawing on our table. That being said, the only saving grace is that the servings are generous and the wagyu beef was good.  continue reading

Most of the customers were eating Hotpot when we entered, but we wanted to try the hot plate, and I'm glad we did! Ordering the set is quite worth it as it comes with vegetables that you can cook along with your meat. The restaurant is sort of small and cozy but it looked like they could cater for groups of 8 or so. Most of the staff were Japanese and you could see that they were trying to speak English as much as they can--very friendly and trying to work across the language barrier. It was a tad difficult to catch the staff though as they are very busy getting orders and delivering food, so please be patient There were quite a few sauces available on the table and they paired well with the meats. THe meat were fresh and not frozen and you can actually see them slice the meats with the meat slicer which is in the corner of the restaurant. There were also plenty of vegetables which included mushrooms, cabbage, golden mushrooms, and potato.Wagyu Beef SetAgedashi Tofu was quite standard. We used the sauce to cook with our vegetables.Pork BBQ with Fresh Vegetables was $24Window decor.Hot plate that the food was cooked in was a creative device as it was shaped like a shell and the excess oil would drip out of the plate. The total bill came out to be $100+. Not pictured here is the Tebasaki Fried Chicken Wings for $10 a plate-- the wings were marinated similar to the Nagoya-style. They were marinated well and arrived hot and juicy. continue reading
