There was a Ayam Penyet Restaurant at Jurong Point basement that was always full house during meal times. Hence I drcided to have a try of their famous ayam penyet. The ayam penyet included a very, very spicy chili. But I did not like the taste of raw chili. The ayam penyet was actually a flatten fried drumstick. The battered skin taste quite good like those fried chicken fastfood. However, the chicken meat was quite over cooked and dry. The bones were also smashed with the chicken meat made eating a bit more troublesome.  continue reading

When my friends first introduced me to this place I was rather confused as to why we were dining at a place where a plate of ayam penyet dish would cost more than $7 when we could have gone to any other hawker centre which sells them at $4 or less. However the first bite I took of that dish really blew all my doubts away. It was one of the best ayam penyet I have ever tasted. The chicken was crispy and tender and moist. And the most attractive part about the dish was it's chili - which was spicy in a good way I think I'm becoming addicted to this place, and if the price is a little more affordable I'll confirm make it one of my regular hangouts. continue reading

We haven't tried the ayam penyet before even though we had been to Jurong Point countless of times so we decided to dine in there for our dinner. We did not have long to wait for seats and for our order as we are there quite early. I ordered the Ayam Penyet which is fried chicken and fried tau kwa set while my hubby ordered the Udang Penyet which is fried prawn and fried tau kwa set. Sorry for the smaller photo of my ayam penyet as I accidentally pressed something on my camera and the following shots are all very much smaller. Anyway, the fried chicken is very tasty. Although it is deep fried, but it does not feel greasy and the chicken meat rather tender and moist too. I love their chilli, it is a must have with my rice, the chicken and basically everything. My hubby said his set is good as well, so people who love prawns may want to try the udang penyet. The portion is quite alright, I was full after my meal. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. I think it is around $7.90 for my set. continue reading

Simply great taste of well known Ayam Penyet.Great sambal. I simply love it.The service is great, i could even ask for extra "kremes" for ayam penyet. But the queue is quite long sometimes, so it might be hard if there is more than four of you.The prices are a bit high, but it is simply worth it. continue reading

I had lunch at Ayam Penyet Ria for the first time and it was really a yummy and worthwhile lunch We went in at 11am plus to avoid the lunch crowd and at 12 plus during the lunch hour, the small restaurant was close to full house. This says something about the food at Ayam Penyet Ria. I chose to eat Lele penyet which is smashed catfish while my friend had ayam penyet, smashed chicken rice both meals cost $6.90. Lele penyet was really palatable and yummy. The skin of the fish was very crispy and not too oily while the meat is tender and moist. The crisps atop the fish made the rice tasted much more flavoursome when eaten together with the chilli. The sambal chilli was really spicy, if you're not a fan of chilli please eat it at a small amount. Other than the fish, the meal also had fried beancurd and fried tempah. The fried beancurd was normal, nothing much to rave about and I prefer tempah to be stir fried instead of deep-fried. We ordered a rose soda, $2.40, as well, it tasted like bandung and was not too sweet. After a spicy meal, a cold drink really does the trick to cool down my burning mouth. The food was very yummy and was filling too. I will definitely make another trip to ayam penyet ria to eat the food again continue reading
