Loved how rich the Kimchi guk (soup) is in it's spicyness! Although salty, the soup is counter balanced with rice and the small cube of tofu. The ikan bilis are wayyyy too salty and have a slight bitter aftertaste. However I liked the kimchi in both the guk and the side. The guk one really numbs your tougue (and gives you da KICK) while the side one refreshes your tastebuds. Moreover the beef can be wrapped in lettuce with side dishes for a authentic way of korean eating. MA-SHI-SO-YO! continue reading

I'm hooked into a korean drama called 'I Hear your voice', and therefore it somehow has a very persuasive effect on getting me to live like a korean for-a-day and going to Baek Doo San Korean Restaurant in Jurong Point sounds like a fiesta.Located in the innermost conner of FEAST at level 3, Baek Doo San is not a restaurant that you'll pass by and therefore really need to have the intention of going there. Initially, I thought the restaurant looked rather small but they had an overarching walkway so the restaurant is really bigger than you think.Looking at the beautiful lights that rested over my head and how it illuminated the restaurant, I really felt like I was away from the hustle and bustle of the food court outside. In fact, the restaurant was quite empty at 11.30am on a weekday.Although I'd have preferred that they plastered korean chefs or hang posters of any korean celebrities in their restaurant for branding, Set 1 - Chicken, Kimchi Soup, Rice, Tofu, Ikan Billis, Kimchi for $9.80 I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of portion that they gave, because koreans have been known for a variety of ingredients in their meals. The chicken was frozen and really disappointed me because it was quite tough to chew on.Kimchi SoupWhile the spiciness can never seem to leave my mouth and is the reason why I felt like I was on fire, the kimchi soup was refreshing to taste as brunch, with white mushroom and cabbages that made me lie to myself that I was healthier. The soup was so delicious, I could almost empty the bowl and wipe them clean so that they don't have to wash their bowl.KimchiThe Kimchi as an additional dish made me wonder if it was necessary since I was already having kimchi soup, and the kimchi overload really almost cracked me up. The sour and spicy combination really confused my taste buds after awhile, so it's great to order some tea (which costs $3.00) to flush down those senses.Ikan BillisCrunchy side dish, great company for my meal to have a little crunch and crispiness. It also provides calcium, though I'd have preferred that they mixed it instead of including as a side-dish. was disappointing. I felt like I was eating the branded flamingo Thai fragrant rice.. it was too Southeast Asian-ish to be Korean style, you know?An overview of the entire set meal, there's much room for improvement but I guess it really can't be helped because the chef in the restaurant were actually people from China rather than Korea, so the taste was a fusion between the two.GST inclusive continue reading

This Kimchi noodle may looks ordinary but it is actually quite nice. The noodle itself was soft and it tastes delicious with the soup. The soup was flavorful and different from other kimchi noodles' soup i have tasted. The portion given is big too which is more than enough for me. There's egg and kimchi inside which compliments the whole dish. The service is average but i waited quite awhile for my food. The ambiance is nice and quiet. continue reading

I was meeting with some friends at Jurong Point after my work nearby. As a korean food lover, i suggested to try out this korean restaurant at Jurong Point. I would like to try out and see if their food is authetic enough, cos usually i have to travel to town (Tanjong pagar, chinatown and raffles place) in order to have some authetic korean food. It would be good for me if this korean restaurant at Jurong Point serve authenic korean food as i stay at the west area. It would be more convenient for me if i am craving for korean food! haha. Anyway, their food is quite nice, especially the ginseng chicken soup. But the spicy nian gao is quite so-so only, but still not too bad. Their side dishes are quite good too! continue reading
