I came across the deal from deal.com.sg, a dessert buffet that comes with free flow Flower Tea at $9.90. I thought it was a good deal and bought 4 vouchers to go with friends. It is located in Little India and about 5 minutes walk away from the MRT, but the shop is quite hard to spot. I walked by it without realising and had to back track to locate the shop. Unless typical buffet style, the food was already placed on the table that my friends and i are to be seated at when we stepped in. We couldnt even choose which are the cakes that we absolutely have no interest in, it is all placed on the table already. Although the cake looks pretty, none of it actually is as good as it looks. The cheesecake was tasteless, and the crust was soggy. The carrot cake was overwhelmed with the taste of cinnamon and nothing else. The banana cake and chocolate cake are the average ones that can still be considered decent. The worst of the lot is the tomato apple cake. No one wants to touch it, and given the chance we would not even want to order it. The chocolate mousse is rich in chocolate, and the other cup is tasteless. I have no idea what i am eating. Their free flow "flower tea" of that month is pineapple rose tea, which is just syrup basically. I feel cheated thinking that there will be real flower tea, as it is hard to find such a shop in Singapore. For the price paid for the deal, I find it alright. But i would not go back again, not even if there is another $9.90 deal. continue reading

I saw the cheap deal on deal.com.sg on the high tea buffet at only $9.90 with numerous selections of petite cakes, desserts and ice cream. I was attracted by the selection of petite cakes listed, so I asked 2 friends along. The Food Dot located at Little India area. It is just less than 5 mins walk from Little India station. It is new as I do remember that whole stretch of restaurant is Indian restaurant. Food Dot just right the middle. It is a cafe and baking studio concept. There are 2 areas, front is to serve the customers with drink and pastries, back is the full set of kitchen where all the pastries are prepared and regularly cooking/baking classes hold there. I like the cafe settings, it is like a mini grocery shop, it sells the utensil for baking and cooking.Start from top left is Tomato Apple Muffin - tomato with cake sounds a bit weird for me, apparently tastes very good. It is one of my favorite selection, top right is Mango Buttercake - tasted normal. Bottom left is Cheesecake - small cheesecake on biscuit with some cherry sauce. I like cheesecake very much but this has less cheese taste, so not my cup of tea and in fact, all of us feel this is not nice. Bottom right is Chocolate cake with ganache - my another favorite petite cake with rich chocolate. For the price I paid, I felt it is worth to try.Left is the Cherry Pie cake - tasted quite good and my friends B love this. Right is the chocolate tart - we all feel not nice, it could be the chocolate is too hard.http://rainfooddiary.blogspot.sg/2013/07/the-food-dot.html continue reading
