As the name suggest, Steamed Gourmet is a place for healthy foodies, serving mostly food that are steamed. This stall is found in many foodcourts in other malls, and i thought i should give it a try. I had the steamed tofu, and it was quite bad. It is a pretty simple dish, but the seasoning was not enough to soak into the tofu, resulting in a very bland dish. Perhaps it is really meant to be healthy, as little additives as possible, but the taste was compromised. continue reading

It was a quick lunch. I ordered a set of steamed minced meat with salted fish for $5.20. It consists of a bowl of rice ($0.60) and soup. The minced meat has got a good ratio of fat and lean proportion. It was seasoned lightly so the level of saltiness is very much controlled. It was quite a big portion and steamed well with sliced ginger and chopped spring onion with salted fish. I could also taste the bits and pieces of water chestnut in it. The texture of the minced meat was further enhanced by the sweetness and crunchiness of the water chestnut. A bowl of nicely boiled preserved szechuan soup was given along with the set. The soup has got 2 big pieces of szechuan in it. The taste of the soup has got a comforting szechuan taste at the right level of saltiness. The prices of the items on menu are slightly higher but i suppose it is justifiable for an air-con food court. The newly renovated food court is rather cosy and much spacious as compared to before. continue reading

dine with parents at food fare after their newly renovated food court. trying out their pork rib with black beans ($4.20) and one plate of vegetables ($2.80) with 2 bowls of white rice ($0.60 each). the pork rib is not really nice, quite hard and there is not really alot of meat. taste too salty for the sauce. the vegetables and mushroom taste hard and salty too. overall food is salty. continue reading
