Signature Dishes
Food republic was very crowded on a sunday afternoon when i came here for lunch. Although it was around 2.45pm the place was still so packed and i had difficulties finding a place to settle down to eat. Didn't know what to eat at food republic as most of the stalls food were quite expensive. thus in the end i went to try their scissors cut curry rice. It was rather expensive as these two dishes of sweet and sour pork and tofu costs me around $3.50.

When ordering the food, it reminds me of my school canteen food. The difference? Just much more expensive. The chicken is good but overall it tastes just normal, not really satisfying for me. I would rather eat in Ramenplay ( really awesome food!) even if it doubles the cost. But they give a lot of rice and my friend said the stall food in another place is good. Perhaps I have ordered the less popular choice since it was my first time eating there.

Up to now, I still don't know how this stall gets its name but I must admit that you must never miss the curry gravy when you order. It is the main attraction in this rice dish.This cai peng is not exactly cheap, especially if you order in food courts. However, it is definitely nicer than the other cai peng stalls. I like the sotong and the beancurd with meat, and definitely the curry gravy!
