There was a long queue forming from this stall on a saturday lunch time, and I decided to join in to see how the food was. I ordered a bowl pork dao xiao mian (knife shaved noodles) ($6). The dish is named as such because the noodles are actually clumps of flour shaved haphazardly by the chef, achieving an irregular, thick kind of noodles. The cooked noodles was actually not bad; it was not too overcooked, so it still retained some bite, chewiness to it. The soup had a nice hearty, herbal taste to it which I really enjoyed. The pork slices, though not as generous as I wished it to be, were nonetheless tender and flavourful. I enjoyed my bowl of noodles, although I had to wait quite a while for my turn. continue reading

I just wanted something chinese for dinner and came here for the handmade noodle soup with braised pork ribs. It was definitely a huge portion for me and I loved the thickness of the broth, the QQ texture of the noodle and the pork ribs were succulent and tender. The overall taste was good and impressive and I couldn't put away my cutlery eventhough I kept saying I am full. continue reading

I think there are a few branches in all the republic food courts, but I always visit this store, apart for it is just located nearby, I think this store serves the best handmade noodle I ever tried. I love their tomato u main, it tastes sweet and abit sour. It just cost 5.50 buck. Although I think slightly expensive than some other handmade noodle, but with the discount - 10%. It is worth a try. Do visit this store when I go the food court in 313I think you can choose the different chill sauce, and vinegar. continue reading

Ordered this dry noodle with fried sauce from this stall. Since the menu is in both English and Chinese, I ordered this noodle in English but the stall assistant couldn't understand my order and so I told her the dish number on the menu but she still query. Only after saying in Chinese does she get what I want to order. Their handmade noodle is not springy but it's soft and chewy. Luckily, the sauce and ingredients are nice. The ingredients is much more compared to the noodle and as I eat until the end, there's still enough ingredients to mix with the noodle. continue reading

Instead of choosing the squared version of the handmade noodle which thought was interesting, my friend finally chose the normal noodle ala fetuchinni size. The bowl is bigger than the usual ban mian I see except that cheapest one in Tiong Bahru, and she ordered a side dish as well which we thought it was the jellyfish dish. But it turns out that, Hrrrmph, it's not! It turns out that it was like some clear noodle and carrot pickles, not the jellyfish.Gotta say the noodle soup has more flavor, and we shared (with the murtabak) with two bowls and it was totally full! Think the bowl is really bigger and has more noodle substance However on service the lady really couldn't speak English, it was so hard to communicate. The chef uncle was generally better in serving without the annoyed look we usually get from chinese vendors. continue reading
