Tonite I am invited to my classmate's wedding dinner. It is hosted at the ballroom which is located at second level of the expo. The place is easy to reach by MRT and there is plenty of carpark lots in the open space carpark. Although it is a 30 tables wedding dinner, the stage looks a bit small. We are served soft drinks, tea, beer and red wine free flow. The dish is quite standard for a mutli course chinese style dinner.Braised Shark's Fin Soup with Crab Meat Seldom see this dish these days, as most will opt for double boiled soup or bird nest soup to save the sharks. The chicken tastes not bad but the crackers taste a bit flat. Seldom see steamed fish served this style as one is expecting the traditional soya sauce cantonese style or teochew style. I do not quite take to the spicy taste although most of the guests like it.Roasted Crispy Suckling Pig Another rare dish which one seldom see in dinner these days as it is quite expensive. The skin is well char and crispy.Fried Live Prawn with Cereal The prawn is fresh and the cereal is light and crispy which most went for seconds.Braised Fish Maw Mushroom with Spinach Interesting having fish maw in this dish which has kinda of sticky texture. The noodle is well cooked and flavourful.Red Bean Paste with Glutinous Rice Ball The red bean paste is thick and rich. The skin of the rice ball is a bit too thick.Overall the food is not bad. Drink is refilled regularly. The only con is when the sound system havings problems for a short period of time. continue reading

This wedding dinner at Bliss Garden certainly has impressed me with their various delicious dishes. Restaurant environment looks simple and quite cooling. The waitress there are also friendly and nice. Enjoyed their shark fin, spinach with abalone, lotus leave rice and yam paste dessert. Shark fin is thick and fragrant with generous amount of shark fin in it. Spinach is fresh and the gravy is sweet and tasty. Lotus rice is full of the leave fragrant and the rice is not soggy nor oily. Yam paste is not too sweet and is full of the natural sweet fragrant from the yam used in it. continue reading

Today I attended my friend's wedding banquet at Bliss Garden Restaurant which is located at Singapore Expo. The food is really quite average, not really fantanstic for most of the dishes. The shark fin soup is too saltish and the duck meat is a bit tough. But the roasted sesame chicken (with crackers) and cereal prawns are quite delicious. The roasted chicken skin is quite cripsy and frangrant, and the portion is really big, they are really generous for all the dishes. We can't finish for most of the dishes. The dessert of the night is red bean paste with rice dumplings (tang yuan with peanut fillings) which is quite yummy too.Overall, it is quite a pleasant eating experience. But if were to compare with other 'Qian Xi' group restaurants, for food wise, personally, i feel that hilltop garden is actually much better than bliss garden. continue reading
