I've always been a fan of the hot plate egg at koufu.. During my nyp days.. 10years on and there's a newer Japanese stall in the south canteen.. At just $3.30 I cannot complain about the long queues during lunch time.. Even at 2pm.. There's still 5 or 6 people in line.. I love the sweet teriyaki sauce that is poured over the egg and chicken. I usually drown my bowl of rice with that sauce.. The egg is also piping hot! so be extra careful not to burn your tongue. I love that they are quite generous with like 7 pieces of chicken thigh meat.. The chicken is juicy and even had the skin on.. The soup itself isn't too salty and msg laden but I wish that there was some tofu on the miso soup. The soup is self serve.. Scoop the soup yourself continue reading

This stall is usually very crowded with students. Due to school holiday, I finally get a chance to try it as there is no crowd. It sells mostly rice bowl and hot plate dishes pricing from $3.50 to $3.90. There is also side dishes such as Chawamnushi at $1.50.Katsu (pork) Rice ($3.50)The egg is still wet and not over cooked. The pork cutlet is a bit too dry. The rice is soaked in sauce. There is free flow of miso soup to help youself to.Agedashi Tofu ($1.50)3 pieces of fried tofu in dashi soup, topped with shredded seaweed. Like the tofu which tastes so light and soft.Overall cheap and good food at wallet friendly prices. continue reading

This japanese stall always have a long queues.Because the food is nice. This dish is my favourite japanese food. The egg is fried and it has a very nice smell. The chicken is soft, tender and flavourful. The sauce that poured on the egg is a bit sweet. It taste nice with the white rice.Add some chiili powder on it will make it taste nicer. But the miso soup is a bit too salty for me.So i always dint drink it. continue reading

kaki fuyong chicken $3.30the one food i will order from the japanese stall is the kaki fuyong chicken. i just cant resist the fragrant egg smell from the sizzling hot plate together with the sweet teriyaki gravy and the fried chicken fillet on top. the rice is also clearly separated, and i love this kind of sushi rice which is chewy and a bit sticky. the egg is really very fragrant and nice, just that the gravy is a bit too sweet. continue reading

Whenever I carving for something with mixture taste of sweet and salty, I will go for japanese food It is because japanese food always taste sweeter than other kind of food... The chicken is quite tender and hs strong taste of teriyaki sauce which I like a lot! The eggs were fully cooked and taste nice when soaked inside the teriyaki sauce. It is cooked in claypot and I need to take it slow as it is really burning! continue reading
