Bordeaux Starlets – The Exclusive Wine Event by Hermitage Wine
2012-04-19
Wine enthusiasts were intoxicated with happiness at Bordeaux Starlets – an exclusive wine event that focused on the Château wineries from Bordeaux. Held at Equarius Hotel on Monday, 16 April 2012, the event was presented by Hermitage Wine and showcased notable wineries such as Château Brane-Cantenac, Margaux, Grand Cru Classé 1855 and Lagrange, Saint Julien. The wineries presented some of their finest wines at this premium event to wine lovers.
Other than the star-studded cast of wineries, Singapore’s very own Master of Wine, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, was also a star at the Bordeaux Starlets event. The passionate anchor speaker led a series of wine tasting Master Classes, which was followed by an all-exclusive En Primeur tasting session that featured the 2011 vintage, one of Lisa’s favourite highlights.
“2011 was an incredibly difficult vintage by all accounts. It was a rollercoaster of a year. All sorts of weather conditions have been thrown at the growers, from hot and cool to wet and dry. The weather sometimes was extreme, and sometimes not at the right time. However, initial indications are that some very good wines are being produced within this vintage. We’ve got some very great vintages within the last decade. 2005, 2009, 2010 where everyone was saying ‘Great, great, great’ and now we’ve got one that is in a difficult year, people need to shop around and sort of look at the different regions and particularly different wineries - who was doing hard work and who wasn’t,” said Lisa.
The event concluded with a VIP dinner reception as guests took the opportunity to mingle with the wine-makers and sip on some samples. As part of the evening’s programme, an auction was held with some of the participating wineries’ finest wines, which were sold to the highest bidders to raise funds for local charity body, Willing Hearts.
Indeed, at Bordeaux Starlets, the phrase “Eat, drink and be merry,” stood strong and true.
