Red House Seafood’s new Prinsep branch is able to accommodate up to 300 diners and features 5 private rooms and even an outdoor dining area
With the recent establishment of its third branch at Prinsep Street, Red House Seafood hopes to shake things up a little and reach out to a younger generation of diners. Situated in a conservation shophouse, the new branch oozes this old-world charm and its interior design showcases a perfect mix of modern and traditional concepts.
Smashing starters
Tiger Prawns with Signature Creamy Custard Sauce (left) and Trio Combination of Chef's Signature Squid (right)
Spice things up even before the mains with a variety of delish starters. We highly recommend the addictive peanut butter-looking, spicy condensed milk-tasting Tiger Prawns with Signature Creamy Custard Sauce ($7 for 100g), as well as the Trio Combination of Chef’s Signature Squid ($30 for small, $58 for large), which features squid in three different ways: crispy, with salted egg yolk and barbecued.
Crazy for crab
Wok-fried Crab Tossed in Black Pepper (top) and Crab in Red House Chilli Stew (bottom)
You can’t possibly have a seafood feast without ordering some massive cooked crustaceans. Red House Seafood makes terrific Chilli Crab and Black Pepper Crab, although you should expect a slight “switcheroo” with the spice intensity – over here the Chilli Crab is tangier and a tad sweeter than usual, while the Black Pepper Crab is a bit spicier. Either way, both are a must-try (together with a serving of fried mantou of course).
Other crab versions include Golden Salted Egg Yolk Crab, Charcoal Grilled (BBQ) Crab, White Pepper Crab and plenty more.

Spicy Seafood Combination
The thing about seafood is that a handful of dishes just won’t do. The table would have to be filled with a variety of flavour-packed delights to satisfy seafood-lovin’ foodies. In addition to ginormous crabs and smashing starters, choose some “big” plates for all to enjoy with that bowl of piping hot rice.
One dish you absolutely must order is the Spicy Seafood Combination ($28 for small, $56 for large) – a colourful mishmash of scallops, prawns, fish and squid swimming in a super spicy Thai-inspired curry. One word: shiok!
You can also consider other items such as the Steamed Scottish Bamboo Clam with Minced Garlic, Red House Seafood Potage ($16 for small, $32 for large) and Wok-baked Butter Crayfish with Fresh Herbs ($5 for 100g).
