Two thumbs up for the curry fish head; fresh and cooked to perfection!
The night’s performances kept diners occupied while waiting for dinner to be served. It took quite a long time (nearly more than two hours!) before everyone had a dish in front of them, but the wait was well worth it – and it wasn’t just because the curry fish head tasted sooooo good.
“We have started the official count. Let’s find out if this world record is a success…” announced the evening’s host, Sheikh Haikel, Singapore’s famous television and theatre personality.
As the Guinness World Record official walked down the rows of tables to inspect the dishes, the event organisers kept close count. Mark after mark, numbers on the white signs held high above the counters grew, from 100 to 1,000, and then 1,800…

The moment we had all been waiting for
“1,800… and YES! 2,012! We have hit the 2,012 mark, ladies and gentlemen!” exclaimed Sheikh Haikel, as applause and cheers erupted from the crowd. The world record was later announced a grand success and OpenRice was very proud to have been part of such a historical moment in Singapore’s culinary history!
