Holiday Feast at Krish
2010-12-13
Kudos to Krish for coming up with a Christmas menu that their guests can enjoy during the holidays. At $115 per nett, the menu is made up of five original courses masterminded by head Chef Matt Baker. “My inspiration for the dishes came from just about anything,” he explains. He further said that he likes to give a new twist to dishes, which my friend and I discovered later on once our food tasting experience began.
After serving us first with Chapati chips with melted parmesan cheese and herbs, we started our first course, the Ahi Tartar with Foie Gras Terrine. I just loved how the citrus lemon taste balanced the rawness of the tuna. To add something more to the dish, there was also the Brioche Crostini on the side which you can mix with the Asian Pear Chutney for a more delicious taste.
I was ready to gobble everything up, but I knew that there were more delightful dishes to come at Krish the Restaurant. So, I saved some space for the next one: the Chili Crab Carbonara. The Chili Crab is a Singapore delicacy and to turn it into Carbonara was just ingenious! This type of pasta can get really bland because it’s just pure cream, but the chili flavor perfectly balanced its taste.
This dish made me want more, and so we moved on to the third course—the Pan Roasted Tasmanian Salmon. For this dish, the salmon was just cooked to perfection. The skin was oh-so-crispy and the meat was so tender. Take a bite and you will experience how the salmon just crumbles in your mouth. I just adored it even more when I already mixed it with the red wine gastrique for it perfectly complemented the fish’s taste.
Being a meat lover, I was really looking forward to the 36-hour braised short rib “Aloo Matar”. Reading the menu, I was quite surprised that preparing this dish takes days! But, it all made sense when I tasted how the meat literally just melted in my mouth. Of course, you have to eat it together with the pickled tomatoes and the curried corn risotto for better taste.
The perfect ending to my meal was the Warm Chocolate Molten Cake because I am a self-confessed chocolate lover. The chocolate just oozed out of the cake when I sliced it with my fork. Mixing it with milk ice cream, I just savored the taste of milk and chocolate in my mouth. For me, it was like heaven in a plate! Finishing the five-course menu left me with a satisfied appetite, but with taste buds that are craving more of these scrumptious dishes. It’s a good thing that Krish will be serving this until the 27th of December so you guys can still get to enjoy their holiday offering.
