More Food Choices at Marina Square's The Dining Edition
2013-07-26
Foodies are in for a treat at Marina Square’s newly-revamped dining enclave. Dubbed as The Dining Edition, the second level of Singapore’s premier mall has been transformed into a gourmet dining zone where you will find 16 new eateries (2 of which are opening soon) to suit every palate. It’s truly worth visiting with friends just to check out the renovated dining concept, which FYI, cost $15 whopping million! But before you head down to Marina Square, we first give you the low down on all the restaurants, bistros, bakeries, patisseries, and coffee joints there. We have also checked out these eateries one-by-one to see what’s good on the menu! Let’s start with the new dining places to look out for: 1. Carnivore Appetite
Unit #02-102/102A Must-tries: Roasted Striploin, Lamb Leg, Beef Rump
It’s a feast of succulent meats at this latest Brazilian churrascaria which has set foot at Marina Square. Similar to its sister Carnivore outlets, customers are treated to a wide selection of grilled/roasted meats which are carried by passadors who go from table to table. More than just a churrascaria, Carnivore also has a buffet section where more items (not just meat) can be found – 15 salad options and the Brazilian stew called Feijoado.
2. Hamanoya
Unit #02-106 Must-tries: Shoukadou Bento (charcoal grilled seafood set which includes fish, tempura, sashmi, rice, and bento); Grill Fish Set Lunches (rice, miso soup, chawanmushi, and sashimi)
The newest Japanese restaurant to hit the CBD area, Hamanoya specialises in charcoal-grilled items. Fresh ingredients of meat and seafood are flown in from Japan so customers can experience an authentic Japanese dining experience. Even the décor gives off that warm and cosy ambience with its simple and minimalist concept.
3. Menzo Butao
Unit #02-180 Must-tries: Hakka Tonkotsu Ramen
Menzo Butao, a popular ramen brand founded by Mr Yasuhiko Kurata in Japan has chosen Marina Square to set up its very first outlet in Singapore. With this new concept, Singaporeans are introduced to its signature soup base – Butao (white), Kuroo (Black), Akao (Red). The Japanese restaurant has also added choices of pork cheek, pork belly, and chashu to accompany your ramen.
4. Saigon Lotus
Unit #02-100A/100B Must-tries: Hu Tieu (Vietnamese Pork Noodles soup with rice or egg noodles topped with sliced pork, quail egg, prawns, and herbs), Vietnamese Coffee Drip
Home-style recipes are what make Saigon Lotus standout among the Vietnamese restaurants in Singapore. With fresh ingredients directly imported from Vietnam, customers are assured of the cuisine’s authenticity. Aside from the wide array of signature soupy choices, the coffee and desserts here are also worth checking out.
5. Shallots
Unit #02-101 Must tries: Tenderloin Pepper Steak, Beef or Salmon Carpaccio; Raclette Cheese with slivers of air-dried beef, pickles, baby potatoes, and gherkins.
Shallots is the newest European casual diner to be introduced to Singapore. Customers will be delighted to know that it has over 45 items in its menu; and some of the foods you can order are fresh oysters (at the oyster bar), light tapas, as well as pastas. There are also meatier options for those who like heartier dishes. To complement these, an impressive selection of wines are available.
6. Supreme Tastes Jiang Nan
Unit #02-181/182 Must tries: Shanghai Pork Dumplings, Dongpo Pork Knuckle, Pan-Fried Bean Paste Pancake
Supreme Tastes Jiang Nan introduces Singaporeans to a variety of dishes from the Jiang Nan province in China. These are made with freshly-prepared ingredients such as hand-made noodles and nuggets. Enjoy these items within the restaurant’s cosy interior decorated with oriental paintings created by Singaporean art students.
Now, we also list down the established restaurants we’ve grown to love. Turn to Page 2 to find out what these are! See Also: Check out these places for a fine dining experience Check out here for the best dining offers
