Best Chocolate Cupcake

Winner: Swirls Bake Shop – Nutella ($4.25 for regular, $2.80 for tiny)
We think it’s pretty safe to say that anything with Nutella in it is a winner. Swirls Bake Shop’s Nutella Cupcake is one of its bestsellers, and with an “explosive” Nutella core and roasted hazelnut topping, we can see why. As Singapore’s only American gourmet cupcake bakery, Swirls’ cupcakes have been touted as one of the best in Singapore by many. Try it for yourself; we’ll be here waiting to say “We told you so.”
Runner-up: Plain Vanilla – Dark Chocolate Ganache ($3.50)
Best Chocolate Macaron

Winner: ET Artisan Sweets – Chocolate Hazelnut ($15 for 6pcs)
With luscious fillings and crisp shells, the macarons here are nothing short of awesome. The taste of one of their popular flavours, the Chocolate Hazelnut, has been likened to the nutty goodness Ferrero Rocher offers. Who can resist taking a bite out of heaven?
Runner-up: Canele – Chocolate Noir ($2.50 per piece)
Best Chocolate Cake

Winner: Kki – Little Red Riding Hood ($9+)
Kki specialises in Japanese-style cakes, which are so hot that they’re usually sold out way before closing time so come early to avoid disappointment.
The cakes all have random, quirky names like “Emily” and “Antoinette”, but one darn good choice is “Little Red Riding Hood”. This dark chocolate mousse comes with a sweet raspberry centre and is extremely rich and chocolatey. It’s a small dessert anyway so you probably wouldn’t have any trouble finishing one on your own if you’re a real chocolate lover.
Runner-up: The Patissier – Chocolate Fudge Cake ($8+ per slice)
Best Chocolate Lava Cake

Winner: Max Brenner Chocolate Bar – Melting Chocolate Truffle Heart Cake & Shake ($16)
Let’s face it – most chocolate lava cakes are ‘meh’. Some are overcooked, some have this awful flat taste, some obviously need more ‘lava’ in them. But for the one at Max Brenner, it’s a completely different story.
Though slightly pricey, their lava cake is a winner for many reasons, from the right level of sweetness to the generous amount of ‘lava’. However, one thing we really love about it is the fact that you could return to Max Brenner over and over again and you’ll never have this delight in a different way. Three cheers for consistency!
Runner-up: Morton's The Steakhouse – Morton's Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake ($30)

Trust the French to make quality chocolates. Laurent Bernard, the man behind the famous chocolatier, is responsible for crafting one of Singapore’s most divine chocolates. In fact, the brand has managed to bag Tatler Magazine's "Best Chocolates" award for three years in a row. These pretty jewels in a box make great gifts, but we can’t promise he or she will share the joy with you because they’re just too good!
Runner-up: Hediard – Assorted Fine Chocolates ($46+ for 115g)
Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

Winner: Famous Amos – No Nut Chocolate Chip ($5+ for 100g)
Anyone who has walked past a Famous Amos store and taken a whiff of the gloriously warm cookie aroma would get why they win the title of “Best Chocolate Chip Cookie”. Their classic No Nut Chocolate Chip Cookies have been around for the longest time and frankly speaking, we have a hard time believing anyone’s going to come along and knock them out of first place.
Runner-up: mezza9 – Chocolate Cookies ($6 for 100g)
Best Chocolate Brownie

Winner: Loola’s – Loola’s Brownie ($12)
Loola’s Brownie is the densest, most moist brownie you’ll ever taste. Just one bite is enough to make you go “oooh” and you can forget about any other brownie you’ve tried. There’s also a layer of lightly salted handmade butterscotch in between the brownie block which gives it that added oomph.
Runner-up: Chocolat N' Spice – Chocolate Walnut Brownie ($1.70)

Best Chocolate Souffle

Winner: Laurent Bernard Chocolatier – Chocolate Souffle ($18+)
Laurent Bernard Chocolatier scores yet another win with its Chocolate Souffle. Although it takes a while to prepare (around 15 to 20 minutes), this particular dessert is definitely worth the wait. This fluffy treat is rich in flavour, not overly-sweet, soft and moist, plus it comes with a side of tart raspberry sorbet and milk sauce.
Runner-up: Morton's The Steakhouse – Chocolate Souffle ($37, feeds 2)
Best Hot Chocolate

Winner: Bonheur Patisserie – Valrhona Hot Chocolate ($4.20)
As one of the patisserie’s signature beverages, the Valrhona Hot Chocolate’s smooth, velvety texture is a result of melting Valrhona Equitoriale (55%) chocolate pellets in full cream milk. Sinful, yes, but it’s not at all overwhelming. Trust us when we say it’s worth the extra time on the treadmill.
Runner-up: Truffs – Hot Chocolate ($6.50)
Best Iced Chocolate

Winner: The Plain – Iced Chocolate ($5.90)
The Plain’s Iced Chocolate is nowhere near ordinary, or plain for that matter. In the tall glass you’ll see streaks and swirls of chocolate goop but don’t be fooled – this refreshing drink is not too sweet to handle. Great for anytime of the day, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner!
