Over at Marina Bay Sands, Celebrity chef Daniel Boulud’s French Bistro has been transformed into db Bistro & Oyster Bar, with a brand new oyster bar in the middle of the restaurant giving its casual Parisian bistro vibe a booster of seafood. The wide selection includes freshly shucked oysters from the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, Boston Lobster and Alaskan King Crab.

“Buttero” is Italian for Tuscan Cowboy so it seems fairly apt that a born-and-raised buttero himself helms the kitchen of this casual Italian restaurant on Tras Street. New Executive Chef Antonio Massagli turns the menu around with classics that he grew up with in Lucca, but he does keep two previous popular dishes: Buttero Pulled Pork and Fries ($14) and Buttero Fried Chicken ($16), whipping it up in his own special way.

Hungry for more food events? Tomorrow marks the start of a yearlong dining programme, $100Gourmet – conceptualized by Citibank Singapore – which will see creative collaborations between international and local chefs honed in either complementing or contrasting cooking techniques. For every month starting April, 1 visiting chef will work with 2 host chefs to create a 6-course menu available at the restaurant for a period of 3 to 4 days. The cost? $100++ for Citibank card members and $180++ for non-card members.

The food at this indie kitchen-bar is constantly evolving and the specials, written on the blackboard at the entrance vary daily, depending on what Chef Daniel conjures up with his imagination and the fresh produce he brings back from his morning trips to Tekka Market. Over time, dishes that do well with customers are added to the permanent dinner menu. The most recent update features over 10 new dishes largely influenced by the street food of Asia, Spain, Greece and Japan, without deviating from its focus on contemporary Mediterranean cuisine.

“More greens, less fries” is the new direction that House at Dempsey has taken recently, to provide diners with healthier takes to its well-loved classics, so as to keep up with the clean eating trend. On top of their gluten-free dessert, salad and pasta, we tried a lineup of new dishes, which were largely inspired by warm Mediterranean and Asian influences. Tasty, wholesome, with their secret ingredient – comfort – kept throughout.
