Crazily popular of Collagen-rich soup, Tsukada Nojo was one of the must-eat Japanese food places in town. Reservation was recommended, there was no queue in front the restaurant but fully occupied. We put down our handphone numbers, came back later while seatings were ready. Friendly service, they greeted us upon our arrival. When the jelly-like Collagen came, we started to heat it and let it slowly melt into thick soup. Don’t be deceived by its appearance, it was not soya beancurd. Standard selections of ingredients, assorted dishes were luxuriously displayed. Orders of Bijin Nabe were on per set basis, there were minced meat, lettuce, spinach, fungus, winter melon, tofu and noodles visible.Boiling moment was the best, nothing beats for the first sip. Amazingly tasted good, it was deliciously hearty even I was only drinking the soup alone. Frankly speaking, I felt it was more likely a Steamboat dinner than anything else. Soup was high-quality and intensive richness, it was extremely flavourful throughout the end. Subsequent top up was chargable, otherwise price was $25.00 per pax. No harm trying Tsukada Nojo, you will never regret.

Ok... I've heard so much about this collagen steamboat from various sources ( thanks to social media ) and end of last month, i finally get to plan a visit! It's advisable to go and queue earlier. I was told by the staff that i can start queuing at 4.30pm in order to secure a table.
My friend and i only managed to reach at 4.45pm and the queue already reached Soup Spoon. Guess what?!?! When they were doing the head count and guding customers into the restaurant, the couple in front of us turns out to be the last customers for the first batch. We ended up in the second batch which will start around 6.30pm. Oh well.... We went to walk around after leaving our name and contact number.
Now go straight to the food! It arrived in the pot with something that looks like pudding. That's actually the good stuff and it will melt once you on the heat. For $25 per pax, you will get a standard set of ingredients and just top up accordingly if you want any extra portion.
Ingredients are fresh and very flavorful broth but it does get a bit salty towards the end. Otherwise it's all good and i enjoyed it very much. End the meal with this cutely decorated dessert!
The hotpot arrived at our table containing lumps of collagen pudding, which was actually the chicken collagen soup in its solidified form.As the pot heats up, the collagen will melt into a delicious concentrated chicken soup. Chicken pieces are buried within that collagen goodness. Other ingredients to be placed into the hotpot are tori tsukune (i.e. minced chicken to be made into meatballs), prawns, yellow zucchini, watermelon radish, wintermelon, black and white fungus, yuzu, chinese water spinach, chinese cabbage, lettuce, deep fried tofu and mushrooms. The hotpot set also includes a serving of noodles and 3 options are available – Thin Egg Noodle, Rice Noodle or Thick Mochi-mochi Noodle.
There are free refills of the chicken collagen soup but you may feel that the soup gets saltier when you run out of ingredients to cook with.
Overall, it was very tasty.
The Bijin Nabe (美人鍋) is only served during dinner and you'll need to arrive at least 30mins before the restaurant opens for dinner, otherwise you will have to leave your name on the waiting list with no guarantee that you will definitely be able to dine there.

Japanese cuisine has always been a hit in Singapore, with ramen leading the charge. You can expect to find a Japanese restaurant offering ramen of some kind at almost every major mall here.
One of the latest contenders for Singapore's favourite ramen is potentially Tsukada Nojo, located at the new wing of Plaza Singapura. Hailing from the Miyazaki prefecture of Japan, the restaurant's speciality ramen is championed by a stock painstakingly prepared - just 3 ingredients of Jidori bones, water and salt are boiled and left to simmer for over 8 hours! Something that I just had to try.
Stepping into the Tsukada Nojo came quite close in my mind to revisiting olden Japan. A very much wood-based interior design, with all the trimmings I'd expect after watching Japanese anime. Even the service staff were clad in traditional Japanese garb as well.Wooden restaurant interiorOpen-concept kitchen with Jidori Chicken
For me, a first visit to any new restaurant would not be complete without trying the in-house recommendations/signature dishes. My choice of main course was the ramen lunch set special: Tori Nikomi Soba You can actually take your pick of the type of noodle to go with the soup (the recommendation being egg noodles) and the entire set meal is actually served separately. The ramen within the stock, and everything else on a different plate for you to dip or soak as you wish.
Plus 2 other sides:Nikumaki Onigiri A Japanese rice snack with a porky twist, the Nikumaki Onigiri is a bite-size rice ball wrapped in what I fancy to be bacon-like pork strips glazed with in a special soy sauce. Whilst the rice might be more on the plain side, the pork and the sauce definitely comes together to make this dish a pretty mouthful.Chicken Nanban - $8 A typical fried chicken dish I would expect at a Japanese restaurant. Juiciness with a crunch but the sauce I did not quite care for. It was just a little too cloying for me.
Verdict: Great experience on the whole in terms of the ambience and some new takes on both ramen and rice snacks. The Jidori Soup tasted simple yet flavourful at the same time.

Tonite we are having the Bijin Nabe for dinner. It is also known as Beauty Hotpot as the soup is made of super rich collagen pudding that flies over from Japan. The minimum order for this dish is 2 person serving and costs $25++ person. This dish is only served from 5pm onwards daily. There is 4 types of spices available on the table to go with the hot pot : Chili Shoyu, Negi ginger Oil, Yuzu Pepper, and Red Chile Oil. It is an interesting and tasty soup with bites of yuzu in it.Thick Mochi-mochi Noodle There are 3 types of noodles which comes with the hotpot : Thin egg noodle, thick mocha-mocha noodle, rice noodle. We select thick mochi-mocha noodle as it sounds interesting. Tastes very nice and flavourful after cooking.Nikumaki Onigiri with Cheese ($3.50++) Melted cheese on Nikumaki Nikumaki Onigiri is Bite-sized rice ball wrapped in pork, baked with a special soy sauce.
