Being an avid soya beancurd lover, I couldn't help but try out this soya beancurd called "Chi Ni Dou Fu". The name is rather interesting. In Chinese, it means to take advantage of. Furthermore, this soya beancurd ($1.50) is organic which caters to the health-conscious in singapore. No gypsum powder is also used in the making of the beancurd. It scores everything (eg ingredients, packaging) but not quite on the taste. The "fragrance" wasn't there and the taste was not on par with the many modern style beancurd stalls out there. It may be a healthier choice but I will just stick to 51, lao ban, amasoy.etc continue reading

The name of this stall immediately got the attention of ours and we ended up buying the cold beancurd dessert from them. There are a few variants available, the original, durian, chocolate, almond etc. I originally wanted the durian soya beancurd but it was sold out so I bought five tubs of almond soya beancurd back home to try. The almond flavour costs $2. The almond soya beancurd is quite strong in the almond taste and almond lovers will surely like this flavour. It is also not too sweet so it is healthier. The texture of the beancurd is smooth and eating it is very effortless as the beancurd just melts in your mouth with every spoonful. I haven't eaten much of other brands' almond beancurd but I just know that the ones by Chi Ni Tou Fu suits me very well. continue reading

Chi Ni Dou Fu stall name is really catchy, which made me buy from them. I had their original beancurd pudding which is $1.50 per bowl. There is also the almond flavoured and fruity flavoured beancurd puddings, but I always want to try the original as a measure of its standard. In my opinion, I think it is quite good. The soya bean flavour is there and the pudding just melts in your mouth. The sweetness level is alright as well. Now I am itching to try out their other fruity flavours! If I am not wrong, the fruity flavours are sold at $2.50. continue reading

This stall sells beancurd desserts as well as herbal jellies. It has a very catchy and attention grabbing name and I had to admit it is this name that drew me closer to the stall to see what they are selling. As the weather has been quite unbearable these days, I ordered two bowls of herbal jellies as takeaway for dessert at night. They have the option of pouring some honey into the herbal jelly since herbal jelly is known to be bitter, so depending on your taste, you can choose to have it with honey or without. I chose to have it without honey and found it to be alright and not as bitter as I imagined. It is more of a fusion taste between grass jelly and herbal jelly in terms of taste as there is not much of any herby taste. The jelly here is also more wobbly in terms of texture. As I am looking more towards having a really herby dessert, this does not really make the cut for me. Perhaps I should try their beancurd desserts next time. continue reading
