Curry chicken with cheese sauce ($3.40+$60cents). Ordered the snack bag's portion and portion was just right for snacks. The chicken was freshly deep fried and waiting time was > 5 minutes. I saw the cashier putting in lots of seasoning but thankfully the seasoning taste was not overwhelming and was yummy. The hot bitesized chicken pieces went well with the cheese too. The curry seasoning's taste was quite subtle though. continue reading

There are 3 new items available on menu : Chicken Macaroni and Cheese, Chicken Macaroni Soup and also Chicken Minestrone Soup. For set A, it consists of a bowl of Chicken Macaroni and Cheese and a bowl of Chicken Macaroni Soup. This set costs $5.60. For Chicken Macaroni and Cheese, pre cooked macaroni is mixed with shredded chicken and cheesy sauce. The shredded chicken is a bit too dry and the sauce is not strong in the cheese taste. As for Chicken Macaroni Soup, it is light and homey. Just the right food for a cold night. continue reading

I been craving Chippy since last month, but I am too lazy to go, and had not eaten this for years. I ordered their calamari. I noticed that they have changed their ordering method. I had the snack bag, thereafter the staff asked me to choose a dip, while failing to mention that I can choose a free dip of either ketchup, chilli or vinegar. So I just choose mayo sauce and need to pay 30cent more. I remembered it used to be free too. From my picture there's a fish and chip shape thing, so I thought how come they mix in their BFF then I realized it was actually sotong. Last time their sotong was nice, but this time was quite hard to chew, not QQ anymore. Waiting time took 10mins, service not very good. continue reading

Traditional British Fish & Chips consist of beer battered fish fried to golden perfect, complemented by thick cut fries that are greasy chunks of fried potato. They are wrapped up in (news)paper and served piping hot to patrons who delight their senses in the aroma and tastes of the fish & chips on their lap. Most Singaporeans would have come to know about Smith's Fish & Chips as well as CHIPPY British's snack kiosks scattered across town, but have they actually tried the battered fish and famed chips?I got a snack-bag sized B.B.F., or rather, beer batter fish (even though this came with fries too) at $4.80 from a stall at the Far East Branch. For a snack bag, it admittedly had a good number of fish chunks in it even though they weren't very large. The fish was fresh and deep fried on the spot, giving it this lovely golden brown color. Steam wafts from your mouth when you bite into it because it is just that hot -a perfectly sinful snack for a cold afternoon. The fries were thick and chunky, the way I like it -and doused adequately in their malt vinegar + salt. You can opt for malt vinegar, ketchup or chicken gravy for free, or you can choose some premium dips such as their special mayo and two other sauces which I don't quite recall. I always opt for malt vinegar or ketchup. The malt vinegar is tangy and delightfully refreshing, complementing the heaviness of the fried food. I wish that the person preparing my BBF could have given me a bit more malt vinegar This snack bag has enough to fill you up, so much so that this so-called 'snack' can easily pass off as a meal if you aren't a big eater. You do get sick of the oily taste after awhile though, or at least that's what happened to me. I'm glad I had the malt vinegar to whet my appetite! The service at the Far East Branch is far from good -the guy takes his own sweet time to prepare the food and the art of multitasking eludes him. He completes one order entirely (the process from taking the order, processing the payment, preparing the food and finally, collection) before taking another...A painfully slow wait if you're very hungry. However, for $4.80 it's worth the price and I definitely would have it again.I recommend the beer batter fish & fries with malt vinegar/ketchup. Always has been my fav at CHIPPY. continue reading

This place has really great fish and chips! My family loves to frequent them to get our quick fix of fried fish and fries. There is a choice of 2 sizes here and we always get the larger bag cause the food is really good! Fried to order, the fries and fish come in small pieces in a paper bag, and they are crunchy and piping hot! Fries are coated in yummy batter too! Making them even more delicious. continue reading
