Criollo Cocoa Cafe located at Orchard Gateway, at quite corner, overlooking Orchard Road.It is a quiet and ideal place to sip in coffee in town. If you need a silence place to cool dow or write something, it would be a perfect cafe. It is also a good cafe for studying while enjoying their specials student offer. Menu is shown as per belowAdorned by glass window and facing down to Orchard Road, you can people - watch, feel the fresh ambience and relax your mind.Look at the Latte !! It's so cute. Enjoyed the latte and view much.Thank You Criollo Cocoa Cafe staff for drawing its latte. You can also purchase the Tea Sachet / box from themAs a cake lover, i was attracted by the adorable Rainbow Cake.Piperade Served as a strong fusion of middle eastern food, its dishes is also known as from Europe. Bread is crusty and its Baked egg dish was nice served as a entree for a small course with bacon and number of healthy vegetable such as onions, green peppers, and stewed tomatoes.Portobello Mushroom Burger. The burger was average and nothing much special except its tasty cheese and juicy portobello.  Light Brioche bun was nice to use for its burger that served with PortobelloMushroom, grilled onion and capsicum, lettuce, and tomato. The fries was too salty with too much saltSeafood Laksa PastaFavorite dish of the day! When i rolled the spaghetti with the fork, I could sense the familiar aroma of its heavens laksa. Gravy was thick and rich to form its spaghetti and seafood base with laksa flavor. Prawn is big and fresh in a special laksa sauceWaffle with Fresh FruitsEnd of the meal with favorite dessert, Waffle. Waffle was light with non-heavy butter sense. Delightful Waffle with the maple syrup and ice cream. Enjoyed the fruits much on top of its waffle continue reading

After my first visit to Criollo Cococa for an OpenRice food tasting, I decided to head back there again to enjoy the ambience and also the great view of Orchard from any of their window seats. The smoked duck tasted a bit dry but I think it's because it was over cooked and henced the duck dried up and curled up at the ends of the meat. The duck meat was sweet and the pasta was just al dente and tasted good, but I realized at the end of my meal, that my plate was super oily. I liked that Criollo Cocoa takes the effort to present their food nicely, despite being a small casual cafe in a corner of Orchard Gateway.I enjoyed my time people watching and just checking out the view while nimbling my pasta and chatting with my friend. The views here are truly awesome and I do hope to see more dishes that would attract a regular customer base. The pasta here are so-so, it's not fantastic that I would definitely come back for, but I do see potential in the location and the cafe concept. The staff were friendly and cheerful, they were happy to help us in anyway they could. Thumbs up! continue reading

Tonite I was invite to a food tasting session at this cafe. It is located at somerset area, which is just above the mrt station. The cafe is small but has a nice view of the busy orchard stretch outside. The menu is simple but colorful looking.Frozen Hot Chocolate ($8.90)The ice chocolate is smooth and rich. It tastes great.Pina Colada Ice Blended Shake ($7.90)It is a refreshing drink but a bit too sweet for me.Big BreakfastThe dish looks great. But I have a big shock when I taste it. The scrambled egg is slightly cooked and is over salted. The rest is also quite salty, except for the sliced fruit and yogurt.Portobello BurgerThe burger is not bad with the juicy big mushroom as the patty. But it feels a bit too plain.Mixed Grill PlatterThe chicken yakitori stick tastes great with the meat tender and flavourful. But the beef stick is rather tough and difficult to chew. Guess wrong cut of meat is used here. Similar to other dishes, the fries is a bit over salted.Tagliatelle Seafood MarinaraI think this dish has the best presentation out of all the dishes tonite. Although the dish looks a bit dry, it tastes not bad with the big and juicy seafood around it.Chocolate WaffleThe dessert looks not bad. But the waffle is not crispy to my liking. Inside it is not fluffy at all.Overall the food has more misses than hits. But the food are priced reasonable and the cafe is located at a nice and quiet centralized place. A great choice to relax and chill after a day of shopping. Another thing which I notice is that although the cafe is not full, the staff goes around asking if we need the glasses. Seems that the cafe is suffering from a shortage of glasses. Cannot think what happen if the cafe is full. continue reading

i went for my first food tasting with openrice and it was a fun adventure.these are the food we have trieda) Big Breakfast (Promo: $12, U.P.:$16.90) 2 scrambled eggs, served with chicken sausage, sautéed mushrooms, bacon (Pork or Turkey), hash brown, toast and fresh fruits in sweet yoghurt. it's not really big, i was expected the portion to be huge, taste is quite ok, nothing very special in terms of taste and portionb) Portobello Burger ($12.90) Grilled Portobello mushroom with onions and capsicum, tasty cheese, lettuce and sliced tomato on toasted brioche bun, served with fries Yum yum, this is good, if you can only order one dish just get thisc) Seafood Laksa Pasta ($16.90) Pan fried spaghetti with prawns and squid rings in special laksa sauce It's a bit spicy but taste quite nice, if you like spicy stuff you will like thisd) Mixed Grilled Platter ($18.90) Grilled chicken and beef on skewers, black pepper chicken sausages, served with fries and coleslaw more like a sampler then a platter, forget about this dishe) Chocolate or Vanilla Waffle ($9.90) Cocoa flavored waffle topped with chocolate ice cream, marshmallow and dark chocolate sauce (with Maple Syrup on the side)yum yum, self make ice cream simply irresistable, one scope is not enoughExtra item that was not one the menu are the Mud cake, tea cake and scopes of ice cream. The cake portion are huge and the price is good, but it is a bit dry, This cafe is in the heart of the city with a nice view of orchard road, the ice cream are the must have. Cake are huge and cheap but a bit dry.come here if you want to relax and have ice cream continue reading

i just when for a food tasting with open snap at Criollo Cocoa Café.The price is pretty reasonable for a cafe in orchard and they are high and low points in the tasting session which i will share in awhileWe tried a few dishes and a few surprise item a) Big Breakfast (Promo: $12, U.P.:$16.90) 2 scrambled eggs, served with chicken sausage, sautéed mushrooms, bacon (Pork or Turkey), hash brown, toast and fresh fruits in sweet yoghurt. The yoghurt is quite nice but the rest of the item is pretty normal, For $12 it is ok but $16.90 i don't think it's worth it and the portion is not really Big for a Big breakfastb) Portobello Burger ($12.90) Grilled Portobello mushroom with onions and capsicum, tasty cheese, lettuce and sliced tomato on toasted brioche bun, served with fries this is nice and juicy, if you come here you must try this. Must eat so i don't need to say morec) Seafood Laksa Pasta ($16.90) Pan fried spaghetti with prawns and squid rings in special laksa sauce Quite spicy and nice if you like spicy food you should try thisd) Mixed Grilled Platter ($18.90) Grilled chicken and beef on skewers, black pepper chicken sausages, served with fries and coleslaw All i can say, is forget about this dish, it was a super big disappointmente) Chocolate Waffle ($9.90) Cocoa flavored waffle topped with chocolate ice cream, marshmallow and dark chocolate sauce (with Maple Syrup on the side)Yum yum, super nice and totally worth the moneyWe also tried some special item like their cakes and ice-creamCakes are huge and worth the price and their tea cakes are nicer then the mud cake. If you can only have one cake have their tea cakesIce cream are the best, it is make fresh in house.I would recommend this place for their tea cakes and ice cream with waffles, For main course just go for the Portobello BurgerThis tasting session in a way is strange because everyone was quite disappointed until the ice cream comes. They need to let people know what is their strong point.Just come for ice cream is what i will tell my friends, as for rating for ice cream it will get 5 stars for main course maybe ok or cry only. So because of that i don't know whether to rate them good or bad continue reading
