It is a rather known stall for its Fragrant Hot Pot, located at one end of the food court. As it is almost 9pm, there is not much selection in the display shelf left. Looking at the prices on the menu, I feel that it more on the high for a stall in food court. One selects the items from the shelf which is chargeable from vegetables $1.40/100grams, to mushrooms $2.60/100grams, to meat $3.20/100grams to seafood $4.50/100grams. A bowl of rice is priced at $1 per bowl and soup base is priced at $3 to $6 depending on the amount of selected items. For the small amount of items which I choose to go with a bowl of rice, I am charged $9.95. I have selected it to cook in a less spicy way, which tastes just right for me. Like the topping of peanuts in the dish, which give an additional crunchy to the dish. Beware of the pepper corns which have a quite effect on the tongue.

I last saw this stall almost a year ago and was surprised that it was still around. The aromas that come out from the kitchen always seems so enticing and you can hear the fires that are ongoing in the kitchen. The bowl is super huge and it has a decent presentationThe spoon has holes in it so that the oil can be sifted out when you take your foodThere's always an ongoing line thereThe food was not cheap it was $28 total and we had Kang Kong, White Cabbage, a bit of shrimp, beef, chicken, and pork. The food is priced based on the weight of your food and the cost per gram. Your dishes are cooked in their house mala sauce and garnished with some peanuts.I don't eat chili padi but I could take the mala sauce as long as I had a bowl of rice. It's really a very satisfying meal as the food is served hot and it makes you feel warm inside. The trick is not to let it touch your lips and to avoid biting on the black small pepper balls which will make you feel numb. Overall, though priced high, my tummy did not get upset from the food so I definitely will consider heading back there sometime

I am a big fan of Ma La Hot Pot thus when someone told me that there's one at the Food Republic of 313 Somerset, I had to try it.This Ma La Hot Pot stall is definitely one of the most expensive I had been to. Even their vegetables cost $1.40 for 80g. The cheapest Ma La Hot Pot Stall that I went to had vegetables at $0.80 for 100g.However, the plus point for this stall is that they keep all their food in these chillers for good hygiene and maintain freshness.I picked some of the ingredients I like for a take away. Overall I feel that it's a little too oily, but most Ma La Hot Pot are like this.. which is why I usually prefer soup.Their pot base charge is also slightly more expensive at $3 compared to $2 of most stalls that I had went to.

This is my first time trying Fragrant Hot Pot, we have to pick the ingredients that we want and then pass the picked items and let them weight and charge accordingly; I took chicken, pork, black fungus, lotus, toufu, etc. They cooked the stuff that we pick in a SUPER spicy, oily, sauces. I can't even feel my tongue as it’s spicy to the point that it’s numbing. So best eat it with plenty of rice.

Super hot dish that can blow fire from your mouth, nose & ear! Just a gentle reminder for those who are not train to take super spicy food. The dish itself can be tasty provided you don't mind it to be super spicy or do what I suggested - request for less chilli & black pepper to be included in your dishes! : )nevertheless, it is an expensive choice in a food court
