ARGH! I have not been blogging lately as my computer had died on me. Found out that it was due to a RAM problem. It's settled now! WHEEE! Praise the Lord!So here I am, at Pu Tien Restaurant (莆田菜馆) as a form of celebration. Hurhur.Such a dark photo of me taken by Melissa.Melissa was already unhappy, waiting for Doreen's arrival for so long. haha. While waiting, we were served with side dishes - Fried seaweed slices with peanuts, some sour radish appetizer. The fried seaweed slices and peanuts were very shiok ! (Very nice!) And without trying the sliced white pickled radish, we told them to change it to the seaweed and peanuts for us because we just couldn't get enough of it.Less than 10 minutes of ordering our food, it all got served up pretty quickly! AT ONCE! And yet we were thinking that we could wait for Doreen first. But anyway, it looked too good to be waiting for her, so we started munching away first. LOL.Melissa said the Putien Lor Mee ($8.90) here was good, so we ordered the small version of it. It tasted alright, but I felt it could have been a little more flavourful. I did like how there were tons of ingredients inside, like mushrooms, vegetables, fried fish, etc. It's also good to have it with their signature Putien chilli sauce!100% Natural and Fresh! NAISE.It really tasted good! So please go ahead and try this if you do patronise the restaurant. My super favourite vegetable dish - Spinach with Eggs ($12.90 for small). The gravy is of a good consistency and has a tinted flavour of the salted eggs. The vegetables were cooked just nice. Everything about it made it a dish with flying colours. Here's one of my favourite dishes - Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychee ($12.50 for small). This has to be one of my favourite dishes in Putien. We also had stir-fried yam ($11.90 for small). It was good, but it tasted like a calorie buster as it tasted like it was coated with a fresh film of caramel.Lastly, we ordered the shredded meat with bun ($11.70 for 3 pax portion), also another signature of the restaurant. We were served with this triangular plastic bags, and upon opening them...They were gloves! So considerate, they even provided gloves so you won't dirty your hands eating the dish.So... take some of this shredded meat...Put it into the centre portion of the golden deep fried sesame topping bun...TA-DAH! Ready to eat!I would also like to add that I like the service of the wait staff. They were professional and friendly, despite having a full house of customers. For full review - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2014/02/lunch-at-putien-food-fair-tampines-mall.htmlMy friend's food photo posts on FB has awakened my craving for the Braised Intestines from Putien. I have not been to Putien for quite a while, time to check out what's new there!Instead of the usual peanuts, they served a mini selection of crispy seaweed and crackers together with the roasted peanuts. This was yummy and costs $2.50 which is kinda pricey for the tiny portion.Something special at the TM outlet, economical set meals (only available at TM). At $13.90++ each, the set consists of a main course, a soup or side dish and a set of 3 mini appetizers. Customers can top up $1.50++ for a drink (soursop or bayberry juice), pretty good deal I would say.Grandma's Bayberry Tea 杨梅茶 (warm/cold) $1.50++, this was very sourish and sweet at the same time, I like it...reminds me of the preserved bayberries I used to eat as a kid.I ordered Set B $13.90++ which has a bowl of Lor Mee, a slice of Deep fried ikan tenggiri (mackerel fish) and a 3x appetizers set. This is the first time I'm eating the Putien Lor Mee, its nicer than it looks. The pale colored broth is not the starchy gooey kind, but it was loaded with flavors from the quality ingredients such as pork belly, prawns, clams, dried scallops, mushroom, veggies etc. The noodle has a nice and smooth texture...very yummy. The Deep Fried Ikan Tenggiri was done homecooked style, simple comfort food. The 3 Mini Appetizers consists of Vinegar seaweed, Spicy jellyfish and Braised mushroom. 3 contrasting flavors, all delicious in their own unique way.Last but not least, the dish that I've came here for, Braised Pig Intestines 九转粉肠 $13.80++. Made by hand daily by meticulously folding multiple thin layers of intestines neatly together, then braised in homemade sauce till fully infused with flavor. I love the bouncy and chewy texture...thumbs up!Food and service at Putien was great. I would recommend the economic set lunches to everyone!

Before chinese new year going to end, my family decided to visit 5his chinese restaurant to have a good feast. Restaurant was quite spacious and comfortable and cooling as well. The service was friendly and fast toom love their deep fried yam which is crispy and not too oily. The yu sheng was alright but would be better if more sauces were provided. The stired fried vegetables are crunchy and feesh and not too salty. This meal cost around $20 per person which is quite afforable

I had a weekend gathering with family member to dine in Putien , luckily for us the restaurant is not fully packed due to their normally crowd. The restaurant is cosy and offer wide range of items in the menu We ordered Tonic prawn soup, Fried Yam Duck , Spinach with salted egg and century egg in supreme stock etc. The tonic prawn soup is very herbal and the prawn is fresh and tender, the fried yam is well fried and can dip in the sweet sauce. Spinach with salted egg and century egg in supreme stock is nice and soothing.

My hubby's favourite soup from Putien "Braised Beancurd with Chinese Cabbage" served in a black earthen pot.Healthy Soup, broth is very light. The combination of the soft but not mushy Chinese cabbage and beancurd makes a satisfying soup and simmered at the right temperature. I believe soya milk was added to this soup to enhance the overall flavour.A "must" in our order list during our visits to Putien.
