Before the Ghim Moh Hawker Centre scheduled for major renovation, I went to Rong Yuan Shu Shi Tan to try their Glutinous Rice. There was no queue and I thought they have soldout, luckily it was still available. The Glutinous Rice was only warm when I received my order. The glutinous rice was not as sticky as others, they were drier version like the Niu Che Shui Famous Glutinous Rice in Chinatown which was now closed. The glutionous rice also tasted savoury, it seem to be cooked with broth. There were roasted peanuts and shallots given, it was good and fragrant when eating together with glutinous rice.Overall, I liked this Glutinous Rice, it reminds me of the same good taste from the closed Niu Che Shui Famous Glutinous Rice. Hopefully after renovation, this stall will move back to the same hawker centre. continue reading

Came for snack before work. Ordered their signature yam cake, glutinous rice and also chee cheong fun. The queue was long but service is fast. I love chee cheong fun the best. The sweet sauce and chilli matched the nicely steamed chee cheong fun quite well. The yam cake is also quite nice. It got yam pieces in it too. The texture is soft and nice. The glutinous rice also nice. continue reading

continue reading

If you are looking for traditional local chinese snack or breakfast, you can check out Rong Yuan Shu Shi Tan.I find that the steamed Taro Cake was a bit disappointing as I prefer those that have chunks of yam. I could not really taste the yam flavour or find the contrast in texture I was looking for. Nevertheless, Rong Yuan's Taro Cake was moist and nice. Oh! and it came with peanuts. continue reading
