What comes after dinner and is a great choice would be ice cream!!!I always have a hard time deciding which flavours i wish to order, there's just so many of them Luckily they always offer great service by giving customers or potential customers samples of your desire to try This time round, me and my friend tried one or two flavours before deciding on the Swiss Mountain Chocolate and Blueberry yogurt ice cream I'm not sure if this is a weird combination but i think its definitely great to have best of both worlds!Surprisingly they goes well together, sweet cold delight way too end the evening! continue reading

Gusttimo Gelato can be tricky to find if you're not familiar with ION. It's located at the corner of the first level, next to Alfresco Gusto bistro. Just a small stall, it can attract quite a crowd despite its steep prices. It's $7.20 for a piccolo, or a cup with 3 flavours -don't be deceived by the '3 flavours', the cup size is actually quite tiny!! You can only opt for the $8.40 cup, with 4 flavours but really -the 3 flavours are more than enough!*There is also a takehome pack for $20++. A bit pricey if you ask me.They offer a good range of flavours including fruitier varieties such as Peach Lavender, Mango, Kiwi and Strawberry. They also have more decadent choices such as their (top favourite, no surprise) chocolate, walnut, Caffe Latte (coffee) and Cookies & Cream. They close from 4.30 to 6pm, so it's best to go at 4pm or even before, or else the favourite flavours run out! This combination is both fruity and creamy. The mango had a fragrant mango aroma, which reminded me of preserved mangoes...Surprisingly it wasn't too sweet! The strawberries & cream were delicious, it wasn't too icy in texture and had the faint taste of real strawberries instead of just the artificial flavouring that we have become accustomed to. The coffee was fantastic, slightly bitter aftertaste -but I liked how creamy and smooth it was.Latte is presumably a milk flavour -it gave a contrast to the otherwise sweet flavours I had chosen. Caffe Latte had offset it slightly with its bitterness, but latte gave it a creamy finish that wasn't too sweet -it didn't have the sickening milky aromaa, it was instead plain but not boring, simple but not inadequate. The cookies & cream flavour was sightly more interesting. It had the distinct flavour of cookie dough, but without the cloying sweetness of it. It was a nice rich addition, complementing the smooth Latte as well as the mildly bitter coffee. A good combination.I also tried the Panna Cotta flavour, which went much better than expected! It had more body compared to Latte, but compensated with its sweetness that was slightly too much for me if it were paired with stronger flavours such as Cookies & Cream or Caffe Latte. It was rich and had the creamy taste of an actual panna cotta -this i wasn't expecting. Delicious -but best paired with something slightly fruity and mild like the strawberries & cream. While the flavours weren't totally controversial and the price is...well, not exactly desireable, this place serves gelato which isn't too sweet -this we all enjoyed. The gelato was dense, smooth and creamy without being sickeningly sweet. The portion is just right, but the price is a little steep. continue reading

First opening its doors in Korea, Gusttimo Gelato has made a name for itself with its wide variety of low-fat and fat-free gelatos, by substituting milk and sugar for healthier fruit options. Having crafted gelato that is fresh and smooth, yet retains the deep and intense flavour, the dessert has proven a hit with Koreans allowing for the opening of 40 gelato parlours around the country. Recently I have bought a voucher which is $7.95 for Two Piccolo Cups of Gelato in ION Orchard. The voucher allows me to choose up to 3 flavours per cup.Walnut, Kiwi, MangoIn this cup, I feel that the Walnut is the most outstanding one as it has nutty and woody taste.Riso (Rice), Fragolatte (Strawberry & Milk), Pomodor Con Basilico (Tomato)Pomodor Con Basilico has the most unique taste. It tastes of herbs and tomato seeds. It makes me think of pasta when I eat this.Fragolatte is a rather light flavour one.Riso is a sweet and creamy one.The gelatos has light and smooth texture. It tastes delicious without the heavy and cloying sweetness of regular ice-cream. continue reading

I've always preferred gelato to ice-cream because of it's smooth texture and deep/intense flavour. It's also a healthier option to normal ice-cream! I bought a 40% off voucher on Deal.com.sg, which entitles me to choose 3 premium flavours for only $4.30! (Usual price is $7.20). Gusttimo Gelato actually belongs to a Korean couple who met in a cooking course in Italy, perfected the art of making gelato, return to Korea, opened Gusttimo di Roma and created new recipes to suit the milder Asian palate. I was spoilt for choice at the array of delectable flavours! Settled on Dark Chocolate, Green Tea and Panna Cotta. It was served in a piccolo cup. continue reading

After walking for hours around Orchard, I decided to have a time-out and cool down myself with a cup of gelato at Gusttimo. I decided to choose 3 flavours which were Rum & Raisin, Panna Cotta and Mela (Green Apple). As always, I will always have Rum & Raisin as it is my favourite. The Rum & Raisin and Panna Cotta were rather good except for the Mela which I found it too tangy for my liking. Other than that, the quality of the Gelato was up to standard. The service was average and ambience is pleasant enough to have a good break from all the shopping and walking, though the Gelato is pricier. continue reading
