I was a bit apprehensive to have my lunch there initially but after some coaxing from my colleagues, decided to join them.To my greatest surprise, we got great value for money food and the food served is really mouth-watering. However, the greatest surprise is the staff there don't look like ex-convicts at all. They are highly committed in their work and very friendly.I would highly reccomend the soup Bak kut teh. For only $5.90 (1 person serving), you can savour the rich herbal broth, tender pork ribs(btw, I ever tried before some eateries whose pork ribs' meat are really tough), tow ki with some golden mushroom. The soup is tasty and after drinking, I can't help to ask for extra free refill. I was full of vigour after drinking the soup.According to the staff there, the bak kut teh there is a modified version of malaysia style bak kut teh. Will definitely return to eat again! continue reading

I was mad excited to try the food at Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh 順發肉骨茶 (MacPherson) after reading so many rave reviews online.Soon Huat is all about giving ex-offenders a 2nd chance in life. First impression was that the place was clean & well-maintained; the staff were very attentive & polite.I read that they did Malaysia-style BKT, & boy was I in for a treat (I'm half-Malaysian). I brought several of my colleagues along, including a Pinoy & a Vietnamese, & everyone enjoyed the food greatly.Pinoy colleague is a bit of a food snob, but even he had no complaints & remarked that the BKT's soup tasted very similar to a dish they have back home (either Bulalo or Nilagang Baka, probably). Viet colleague initially refused to taste the Ginger Sesame Chicken cos he said the ones in SG are not tasty at all; I insisted that he at least give the sauce a try... & he sang a different tune. It's very rare to find decent Malaysia-style eats in Singapore, & I encourage any BKT fan to give the place a visit. One thing for sure, I’ll be back soon with my family in tow. continue reading

The best dried knuckle that never tried before..have tried so many outlets I still prefer Soon Huat Bak Kut Teh in Singapore..The price is also very reasonable and the staffs there is so nice and friendly..they play soft music and Christian songs to make the atmosphere so relax..during the last visit I found out that most of the staffs there including the boss is an ex convict,it really make me go and support them even more. After eaten so many braised trotter Soon Huat is still the best..their Bak Kut Teh soup is so tasty, not too much herbs and also not too much pepper. They also keep coming out new dishes to let customers to have more choices..they are also social enterprise company that help ex convict and homeless..they are also the social enterprise winner in 2014. BEST Bak Kut Teh in Singapore. continue reading
