There’s Spizza for Everyone!
2012-02-13
Italian cuisine is a favourite among Singaporeans, as proven by all the Italian dining places which have mushroomed in the country over the years. One of these is Spizza, which recently opened its 4th restaurant at East Coast Road.
Spizza at East Coast is proud to unveil its new look
Unlike the earlier outlets which have a more homey style, this place offers a chic and contemporary vibe. The floor-to-ceiling glass panels give it a breezy and welcoming feel. Also adding to this modern look are the stylish white-washed bricks with graffiti style illustrations and wooden flooring.
Rebecca ($18 and $22) and Isabella in Gondola shape ($19 and $23)
They’ve really gone all out to give Spizza a major facelift; and by the end of the year, all other outlets will also be donning the new look. Though they’re on their way to modernising their restaurants, guests can still expect to have their authentic Italian fare. Their gourmet pizzas (10in and 12in), named after a Roman empress and female opera singers, are still cooked in their built-in wood-fire oven. Hence, their signature classics Isabella ($19/$23), Ursula ($19/$23), and Rebecca ($18/$22) still retain that smoky flavour we have all grown to love. An interesting thing about their pizzas is that you can order it in its regular shape or in a Venice-inspired Gondola shape. If you want something different, you can order the latter which has a fluffier crust and juicier filling. Pizzas are not the only on the menu, for they also have a wide array of other starters and pastas which you can also try. A new addition is the Portobello Al Forno ($12) which starts you off with 2 big and juicy Portobello mushrooms topped with meaty Bolognese sauce and Tallegio cheese. It’s also served with olive oil and for additional flavour, you can just sprinkle some on the mushroom. Yum!
Gnocchi($17)
Another notable mention is the new Gnocchi dish ($17) which consists of home-made gnocchi balls, Gorgonzola, cream, and cooked ham. This dish can be a bit too much for it’s just too creamy, so to break the monotony, order it with green peas. Can’t get enough? Then you can also have their flavoured pasta of the month. For February, it’s Squid Ink Taglierini ($17) which has generous toppings of fresh prawns, squid, and mussel. As for desserts, they also have new offerings on the table such as the Olive E Vanilla ($7). This is the perfect way to end your meal as it satiates your appetite for something oh-so-sweet! -- Address: 217 East Coast Road, #01-01 Tides Tel.
