I had a satisfying steamboat buffet at Le Le Pot the other day! There are four types of soup and a wide variety of food for you to choose from in the restaurant, ranging from vegetables, seafood, meat, starters to fried finger food like chicken wings. Best of all, there are desserts provided for you to complete the meal. The restaurant is air-conditioned and have a nice, cozy atmosphere. 繼續閱讀

For steamboat-idiots like me, the only place I could think of when it comes to having a good hot pot buffet, is Bugis (well, besides the recent Suki-Ya). Hence, it was an eye-opener, or rather, finding another hidden treasure, when girlfriend's mum, Amy suggested that we have an early re-union dinner at Le Le Pot 乐乐锅.Located just a bus stop away, or a short walk from the bustling Tiong Bahru Plaza, Le Le Pot is an ideal choice for people looking for an affordable, yet homely and fuss-free steamboat buffet. The restaurant, opened by a part-time Mediacorp artiste, provides a wide variety of steamboat dishes, as well as home-made ones such as fried wanton, steamed dumplings and cheese fries. The deep fried buns (man tou) were a winner for all of us, as we found ourselves ordering plates and plates of that petite goodness. Other favourites include sotong balls and thin-cut beef, dipped into their various dipping sauce.Diners can also opt to order salmon sashimi, prime beef and other exclusive "star dishes" on top of the included ones, for an additional fee, oh, desserts and drinks too. Well, of course, the best things in life are never free. The thing I liked most about Le Le Pot is that unlike the usual buffet style restaurants, they do not display their dishes out-front, instead you order what you want on a piece of menu, and the service staff serves the dishes fresh from the kitchen. So you would not have to worry about pesky flies sticking their mouths on your meat or whatever, in fact, there was not a single fly in sight when I was there. That's how clean it was.Overall, service was good, with the artiste himself helping out as well. It was weekend rush-hour at that time, but I could say that the service staff handled it well. All in all, the buffet costs $21.80 nett (weekend), exclusive of desserts, drinks and any other additional priced items. Decent for my palate, while girlfriend thought that the Bugis's outlets are better as there were more varieties of seafood. 繼續閱讀

My girlfriend and I wanted to eat in a comfortable, well-ventilated/air-conditioned environment with service, so she chose this restaurant. The food is ok, but the service is terrible.Reason:1. No matter which day you have chosen to go, this place is really crowded so it's best to make a reservation before going or be prepared to visit. They even requested my girlfriend and I to wait outside even though my girlfriend made a reservation through phone.2. This place is noisy and tables are crammed very close together.3. The service is horrible and we saw the service crews brought the wrong food to most of the tables so many times because they got two shops having the same table number.4. The food did not serve prawns. However, the laksa hotpot is something different and worth trying. Conclusion: A nice and decent ala carte steamboat buffet away from Singapore's Central Business District is value for money.Kindly visit http://themunchingirl.wordpress.com/2011/04/03/lele-pot-cheap-good-al-carte-steamboat-buffet/ for full reviews. 繼續閱讀

when it comes to what makes for a good steamboat buffet, I believe we all have pretty much the same criterion; namely price, freshness and variety. Le le pot is one of my favourite places to frequent because it scores well on price and freshness, and does decently on variety too.To begin with, for a fixed price of $21.99 on weekends (if i remember correctly) you get to pig out to your heart's content. That's not very pricey to begin with, and given the variety and freshness of the food, makes this place very good value for money. The freshness of the food really cannot be faulted. Unlike the run of the mill steamboat places at bishan, where ingredients are haphazardly piled up and exposed to the flies and other elements, the food here is served out plate upon dainty plate fresh from the kitchen. One highlight is the sliced meats, which come in neat rolls akin to that served in more high end places. Another highlight is the great range of cooked food. The veggies here are also very fresh. Only thing I should highlight though is that the clams are occasionally not as fresh as the rest of the fare. When it comes to variety, this place does pretty well too. Great selection of meats, fish, veggies, mushrooms and other steamboat items. The range of dipping sauces are also great, and they do a pretty decent sambal belacan. However, what this place lacks, is variety in seafood. Sure you can have crabs if you want, but that's not part of the buffet. For a crab lover like myself, that can be quite a let down since most of the bugis places do have crab. However, this place makes up for it with a good dessert selection that's inclusive in the buffet price. Also, their variety of soup bases is great, and most are well executed. I particularly favour the ma la soup.Definitely a place that's worth a try! 繼續閱讀
