My family friday dinner tradition is to take a break from cooking at home, which can be such a hassle, to dine at one of my favourite hawker centers in Singapore, the East Coast Lagoon Food Village. Situated right next to East Coast Park, it boasts of the usual fare of Singapore hawker delights such as chicken rice, rojak and also BBQ seafood. This allows us to sate our hawker food craving and then go for a nice evening stroll by the beach afterwards to digest the meal and enjoy the evening sea breeze. One of the dishes that I always order every time we go there is the LAgoon Leng Kee Beef Kway Teow, which is one of the more popular stalls in the hawker centre as it almost always has a queue. But as the Singapore mentality goes, if there is a queue, the food must be pretty damn good. It comes in both $4/$5 portions but I usually just get the $4 one and order it with just beef and Kway Teow noodles, while they do offer other types of noodles such as mifen and mian and also a mix of beef and innards. The best part of the dish would have to be the beef broth, which is flavorful and yet not overly salty such that every mouthful has to be accompanied by a gulp of water. The noodles are also cooked with the right amount of bite and are not mushy while the beef slices are generous and go well with the chili sauce. If you are ever in East Coast Park, do pop by this hawker centre and try the Beef Kway Teow! 繼續閱讀

One of my friends recommended me to try the beef kway teow from this stall. It was at late afternoon and she told me if I didn't believe this stall is famous for their good food, I can observe for myself the queue starting to form once it reaches dinner time.Beef Kway TeowThe broth was very light yet fantastically flavourful! The kway teow was also soft, I could just slurp it off my spoon. Beef slices were aplenty, tasted really awesome, and were not too overcooked. It was really tender in fact. I like everything about this dish - the soup, the beef, and the kway teow.Sure enough, it was dinner time when we finished our meals, and I witnessed a long queue starting to form at this stall. I was told the usual average waiting time is about 30 minutes. Glad I got to beat the queue for this awesome dish! 繼續閱讀

Being avid food lovers and it was also my boyfriend who decided to join in line to grab a bowl and try. We heard and noticed ourselves that this beef kway teow stall always and never stops having a queue out there. It took about 15-20 minutes and upon our turn, we struggled to tell ourselves that it was worth the wait as the presentation of it sure looked plain ordinary and it was a $5 average serving enough for a small eater. But as we sipped our first spoon-full of soup, it made us smiled, aromatic and well-boiled soup. We actually wished we could have another bowl of it, maybe we could have asked for additional. The kway teow noodles was cooked just nice, soft but retaining its chewiness. The beef slices did not have any beef odor and were tender but it occurred to us that the beef wasn't of a generous serving though I have read reviews that say otherwise; perhaps it happened to be due to the long queue. It was sure good but when I do return to Lagoon Food Village, I'm not sure if I'd join the queue for a revisit because I am sure there are many equally excellent and famous stalls there for better satisfaction. 繼續閱讀
