I was very happy that Yoshinoya at last open in Western area of Singapore.I always order beef bowl at Yoshinoya. The beef tasted like what I had in Japan, though the prices in Singapore was about twice of what you pay in Japan. The staff recommended me to add Tofu for 80 cents extra. I was very pleased with the staff recommendation. The braised tofu was silky smooth and melts in your mouth, no kidding. Overall, the beef bowl with tofu tasted good but a bit pricy though at $8 for ala carte.

I always head to yoshinoya if I'm eating alone or just looking for a quiet and peaceful place to have my meals. Yoshinoya serves healthier food compared to other fast food restaurants and it's great for a family hang-out as well. There's kids meal available too! Great for the whole family. In fact when I was there just now, I saw 4 families.Just recently, Yoshinoya came up with a new dish, Salmon/Chicken with Japanese Curry! Was tempted to get the student meal because it's cheaper, but wanted to try something new so I tried Chicken curry ($7.90)! It comes with miso soup. You can choose to top up $1 for a drink but I did not. The curry was quite good during the first few mouthfuls but I realised that the curry is quite spicy, different from the normal Japanese curry we usually eat. My tolerance of spicy food is not very high, so I advise people who can't take spicy food to not choose this. Otherwise, the chicken was nicely grilled, which is healthier than it being deep fried. The curry had onions, cabbage and diced carrots! The miso soup was rather bland but healthy!

Everywhere was bustling with people in the newly opened shopping mall - JEM. my girlfriend and I were lucky to have found seats in our favourite beef bowl restaurant Yoshinoya. Of course I ordered their beef bowl; the beef is simply to die for. They somehow marinated the thinly sliced beef until it is very delicious, even the fat meat on top taste really good. I am not too fond of the vegetables though. I felt they should season it at least a bit because it was really bland.

I was exploring Jem and spotted Yoshinoya. It was not too crowded so I decided to head in for late lunch. I ordered their student meal which is a rice bowl, side of the day and a drink. I opted for the beef bowl, the side of the day happened to be crinkled fries and for the drink, there was an option of free upgrade to Sjora which i opted for. I added 80 cents to top my beef bowl with kimchi, i think it gave the bowl a spicier and sour flavour. the beef bowl was really good, the beef was on the saltier side, but goes well with the tasteless rice and vegetables. the side of the day- crinkled fries, was a disappointment. it was cold, unflavoured, soft and soggy. i ate one and set it aside, not nice at all. I was pretty happy with the free upgrade, Sjora drink is just good!
